Is there a particular reason why we still have the Thanksgiving logo up?

Too early for Christmas? :bleh:

I do remember hearing at least one "logo" song on the local forecast, and it may very well have been this one.

Also there is no live weather programming 2pm Thursday to 4am Friday.

What?! Are you serious?!  :censored:  I don't recall that ever happening before!!

That's what has become of American politics - it's all childish now.  No one respects the opinions of anyone else anymore, and there's certainly no desire for compromise anymore.  It's "my way or the highway" now.

I'm working 5:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thanksgiving and 4:30 am to 1:30 pm on Black Friday.  It's not so bad, though - I still get to go home relatively early in the day, and, even though I have to deal with the biggest crowds both days, rushing to take advantage of the biggest sales, it will eventually pass, my days will come to an end, and I'll be able to go home while the store is still bustling with customers.  It's a psychological thing - it will seem like a half day at school.  :)

Otherwise, I have no Thanksgiving plans... other than sleeping.

Do Local LDLs come with their own weather logo?

Yes.

They need to consider a name change for the 1am show since 75% of it is not live.

Maybe they think they're fooling people?

Actually, they probably are.  Way back in the day the overnight broadcasts were pre-taped.  A casual viewer who just tuned into the channel for a few minutes to get the latest weather report probably wouldn't care or even notice.  It's only dedicated viewers who pay attention to things like that and notice... and complain.

So, that's probably what they're trying to do, too.

However, while most of the east coast will be sleeping at 1:00 in the morning, the west coast is still in prime time, so I really can't understand why The Weather Channel, which is trying to reposition itself in the market, is showing the west coast pre-taped and out-of-date weather reports during prime time.

I can almost guarantee that someone will purchase the Twinkies line of products from Hostess, they won't let a staple just die out like that.

Is it right to be sad that a Twinkie is considered a food "staple"?

I envy you.  Today is day 16 of working 19 days in a row... and it's a nine and a half hour day today.  At least I'm starting at 11:30 this morning - anything earlier would have just killed me.
Yikes!  I've had moments with working 7 or 8 days in a row, but how did you end up with 19 days in a row?  I hope you have a good break ahead after this stretch.

Holiday season in retail.  I have Tuesday and Wednesday off... supposedly.  Actually, most likely.  The extra hours for next week are going to an employee who recently got a promotion, so, in terms of seniority, he's ahead of me in line to get those extra hours.

The Italian judicial system is unique in many respects, but meteorologists even in the United States have been sued over inaccurate forecasts.

Is the world really getting so sue-happy that meteorologists will need to consider getting some kind of insurance to help protect them against lawsuits?

I voted for Obama (absentee ballot), and I think he will win the election, but by the very slimmest of margins.

What an interesting find - especially with a map of the four corners states centered on the four corners!  Pity the Star is in such bad shape, though - it must be unbearable to have to watch the local forecast every single time on a machine that's barely working.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: 2012 Layoffs

TWC sure seemed to make her look like one over the past few years. Pretty much every woman on air there now is expected to have the same "generic blond" look. I hate what TWC has done to the image of the female OCMs there over the past three years.

Are they really trying to focus on sex to get viewers?  It seems so.  All of the female OCMs now have to be young (or at least realistically appear so), wear tight dresses and show their legs, wear heels that have no business being in front of a weather map, and, on occasion, show more cleavage than one needs to see on a serious network.
