News and Updates / Re: New users, need some details from you
« on: May 19, 2012, 03:05:15 PM »
Well, I called myself following directions and setting up my account. I'm guessing that I have to wait for my account to be confirmed because I get the "ID des not exist" error when I run the program.

Bug Reports / Forecast Zone Changes
« on: May 19, 2012, 01:56:23 PM »
For your emulator:

Tangipahoa Parish (Forecast Zone LA 038) has been split into two:
* Northern Tangipahoa (LA 071)
* Southern Tangipahoa (LA 072)

Also, when configuring my Current Conditions, the page and maps for Washington Parish (LA 039) won't pull up. I'm temporarily using Tangipahoa Parish.

Hurricane specialist vs. hurricane expert
IMO, "expert" is a bit of a higher ranking than "specialist." You can specialize in something but not know almost everything on the subject to call yourself an expert.

It's the same thing, yall. They're just playing with words to get you to think that way.

Both know their hurricanes very well. Knabb just happened to have worked on the FIU campus (where the NHC and NWS Miami is located) while Bryan worked down the road in Miami.

If you have messaged me with a request for an account, I will try to get through a lot of the backlog this weekend. :)

Still nothing from you in my inbox.

Could Carl Parker get a promotion to full time Tropical Storm expert?
Last tropical storm season he mostly did reports on the tropical storms and severe stormsfrom the expert desk and went back to 11am-2pm when the tropical season was over.
Since the day time schedule changes he is back in the expert role.

I doubt it, unless he's needed. Carl is focusing on severe weather with Dr. Forbes. Yall don't remember him making that announcement? He said he always wanted to focus on convective meteorology and it was a great opportunity to work with Forbes. It'll probably be Jim and Bryan until Jim has to go on location when a storm approaches.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Scott Williams Departs TWC

Good for Scott.

TWC has no issues with it because he's going to Philly and not staying in Atlanta, where a non-compete clause may kick in.

$3.56-$3.70 in my area. Should be dropping some more since oil closed at under $100/barrel today.

I want to say Stephen Arnold Music, for that music is similar to their style. Don't quote me on that.

IMO, a change in logo is possible. Changing to simply "TWC"? No way. Those three words are some of the most recognizable in broadcasting history and helped bring the network to where it is today. No way they get rid of that.

And you can forget seeing NBC or its peacock becoming part of that logo. Have yall forgotten that Comcast is in charge now? They have already directed the NBC-owned local stations to have a local presence/identity again like they did before NBC screwed things up back in the late 90s/early 2000s, so don't worry about NBC molding TWC any further.

General Discussion / Re: Trayvon Martin
« on: March 24, 2012, 01:35:31 AM »
I'm not gonna go all out and call Zimmerman racist, for I don't know his history.

However, I do recall reading that he was acting like a wannabe cop when he was on Neighborhood Watch patrol and has gotten complaints from his neighbors about his tactics.

The cops fumbled this case by now checking to see if Trayvon used his phone that night and just going by Zimmerman's word only. Now that we know that, they have egg on their face. I'm glad the state and the feds are getting involved. I expect the grand jury to indict Zimmerman on second degree murder or manslaughter.

It jumped 14 cents to $3.79 in my town. My Winn Dixie rewards card helps some.

WSMV-TV IN Nashville, Former TWC OCM Lisa Spencer is discussing the tornadic storm going over the Nashville area. You can hear the hail also.  :o

I heard it too on WTVF's live stream.

Sad news: Mayor of Marysville, IN says the entire town has been destroyed by a tornado.

Meanwhile, storms are firing up in MS and NE Louisiana.
