TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Comcast Sucks.
« on: August 18, 2010, 08:24:18 PM »
It doesn't matter what kind of change it is, or how incredibly beneficial it will be - there are just some people out there who are categorically opposed to any kind of change whatsoever, and they'll always view it as a bad thing.

Change is the only constant in life, that's an undeniable fact.

Change for the better is great.  Lateral change (no better or worse, just different) is acceptable.  Change for the worse PISSES ME OFF TO NO END.  I'm waiting to see what this does to  my bill before I decide between lateral and worse.  One week in, and I have yet to see ONE REASON to make me believe that this change is the least bit beneficial.  I have a slew of new channels I didn't have before (95% of which are crap).  If they expect me to pay for all these channels I don't want nor ever asked for (and I have no reason to believe they won't), then they're going to lose a customer; it's that (bleep)ing simple.

Here's the crux of the problem: A Technician was finally out here today.  As we suspected, the box they gave us at first didn't work.  The Tech went out to his truck, got another brand new box and guess what???  IT DIDN'T WORK EITHER.  The third box finally worked.  Non-functional equipment is the #1 complaint about this stupid upgrade.

I'm tolerating it for the time being.

the signal gets blurry at times. <_<

I've had  people who upgraded 6 months ago tell me that.

I AM a bit of a Technophobe, but I would'nt be so irate if it went smoother, or if people in Comcast's customer service/tech support actually knew what they were talking about.

I have yet to see one benefit to this.

I don't understand what the problem is.  So long as people are prepared, then there's no problem at all.

In my family, most of the TVs already had digital cable boxes.  Those that didn't were equipped with the free digital converter boxes from Comcast before the cut-off date, so our house never lost service on any of its TVs.

For starters, they changed the cutoff date from 8/17 to 8/10.  My sister was notified by mail, but we never were.  Hooked it all up today... two of our boxes work, one doesn't.  Personally, my picture quality was better before than it is now.  And the ultimate insult: I'm only getting satellite forecasts on TWC... I'm hoping it's just an outage.

And besides, I was very happy with what I had.  It irritates me when people can't leave well enough alone.

Is this really being mandated by the federal government?  They suck more than Comcast.   :censored:

General Discussion / Re: Songs You Love To Hate

Hate to burst your bubble, but lots of people listen to country.

I dig Country as a change of pace, but I really can't listen to it exclusively.  I have several Country songs and CDs in my collection.

They were making fun of that Katy Perry "California Girls" song on the radio the other day.  The host was having trouble reading the lyrics because he was laughing so hard.   :rofl2:

This "digital migration" is a complete disaster.  EVERYBODY is pissed, I've never seen anything like it.

Jeff used to hang out at the old TWC message boards.  He was a really cool guy.

BTW, what was the name of that other show he used to host on TWC?  I liked that show, but it didn't last very long.   :(

Major flooding in Chicago?

Midway Airport (about 15 miles north and a bit west of here) had 8.25 inches of rain yesterday.  We had about an inch-and-a-half.

I have to agree that TWC is more like a news network now,  thanks to NBC.

They spent five minutes last night talking about LeBron James.

TWC has officially jumped the shark.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: New OCM - Eric Fisher (?)
« on: July 09, 2010, 09:50:28 PM »
He's another newbie. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Warren Madden and Ryan Goswick are indeed gone as they were rumored to be. NBC is just adding new OCMs by the week at this point. Heck, maybe some other veteran OCMs will be out the door soon, as well.

TWC is becoming less recognizable by the day anymore.   :(

On a side note, my neighbor's name is Eric Fisher.   :D

Welcome to TWC Eric.   :)

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Kim Cunningham

I find it really odd that she has decided to be on-air with her married name.  You would think that someone who is such a familiar face would want to stick with the same name.

Or at the very least, go by Kim Perez-Cunningham for a while.

Sometimes, at least it seems to me, that OCMs, like in this case, Eboni Deon, left TWC, but we forget about them and don't even notice they have left.

It took me several months before I realized Kristina Abernathy was gone.   :blushing:

A classic example is the Head on ad. xD

I completely forgot about HeadOn.  Do they even make that crap anymore?

Round two came through my area.  What happened up there yesterday, Don?

Garden variety thunderstorms, nothing severe.
