Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Don
« on: July 30, 2011, 01:47:45 PM »
The first time my name is attached to a tropical system, and it ends up being the biggest dud I've ever seen.   :rofl2:

Don't get me wrong, I'm not rooting for destruction, and I never will.  I'm very glad there was none.

Thing is, this system had the potential to deliver significant rainfall to areas that desperately need it.  This TS could've been a very GOOD thing, which is almost unheard of.  Nowhere near an inch fell anywhere.

I recently heard about something very interesting.

As a direct result of Gov. Walker's reforms, this one particular school district (Kaukauna) immediately turns from a $400,000 budget deficit to a $1.5 million surplus.  They plan to hire more teachers.

So let's see...
A.) No jobs were lost
B.) Several new jobs will be created
C.) More teachers = smaller class sizes, better student/teacher ratio, better classroom environment for students

Yet the unions fought this tooth and nail.   :dunno:

Who does the NEA really care about?  Think about it for a while, it obviously isn't the students.

District swings from deficit to surplus with newly enacted employee contributions

I would contact your headend. Sounds like the cue time for the local ad inserts is off.

Comcast got an email from me tonight because it's getting worse.

Looks like it's going to be rather cool in Chicago tomorrow. A high of around 65° is being predicted, but the average high for this time of year is 79°. And can you believe it was in the upper 90s for a few days this past week?

A complete contrast to the constant above-average temperatures in the South...

And it's going to be in the 60s and low 70s all next week!

It feels more like April than June.    :dunno:

TWC and your Cable Company / Interrupted forecasts?
« on: June 12, 2011, 05:51:34 PM »
Did a search and couldn't find anything (SIAP).  Actually, I'm not 100% sure where to post this.

Am I the only one who's having his LFs interrupted by commercials?  It doesn't happen every time, but when it does, the CC screen shows as normal.  All of a sudden, a commercial comes on.  It shows two commercials, then goes back to the LF for the 36 hour forecast.

This is without a doubt Comcast's doing, because A.) TWC would never do anything like this, and B.) The first commercial is always one for Xfinity, with the second usually being a local commercial.

It's irritating.

The rain stopped, but most area rivers are at or near flood stage.  Some are beginning to recede, but others are still rising.

Levels are falling, but slowly.

$3.73 this morning, $4.19 this afternoon.  WTF?   :dunno:

Something about a broken pipeline in Canada.

Back to $3.99 today.
