I can't believe it's been a quarter of a century since the F5 in Plainfield, IL.

General Weather Chat / Harry Volkman 1926-2015
« on: August 22, 2015, 09:17:54 PM »
IIRC, TWC did a segment on Harry about a year ago. When Harry was working in Tulsa back in the 50s, the FCC wouldn't let TV Meteorologists report on tornadoes as they were happening. Knowing that stupid rules were made to be broken, Harry became the first to report on one. His actions that day may have saved a countless number of lives. He last worked for WFLD in Chicago in the early 2000s.
Rest in Peace, Harry

It feels a lot more like summer finally.
The severe weather and rain were getting tiresome.

And the beat goes on...
July 13, 2015: Severe Storms Bring Large Hail, Isolated Strong Winds, & Funnel Clouds
Here's a blast from the past...
20th Anniversary of the Historic July 12-15, 1995 Heat Wave
I remember it being hot, but I always thought the heat wave of early July of 1994 was more miserable. Of course that one (`94) was accompanied by severe weather every afternoon, so the evenings were relatively cool.

The Strongbow ad with Patrick Stewart was amusing at first, but TWC must play it twice during every commercial break.
