SaWEEEEEEET!  Thanks for checking it out.  I really hope you can utilize many of my suggestions.  Great work so far!

Very nice!  Do you need the 3rd party program to get local alerts for the bulletin page?  Also, will an LDL be present in the upcoming release?  Of course, when will this be available?  I'm stoked!

Local Forecast / Re: Narrations on the HD STAR

To this day, I still wonder why watch/warning maps aren't shown during the LOT8s.

The Stars have always had this information in text form.  The WeatherStar III and 4000 had it at the beginning of the Local Forecast pages, and the XL and IntelliStar have it on a separate Weather Bulletins page.  Would presenting it graphically be as efficient as the text page?  I personally don't think so.  Not everyone would know (believe it or not) where their county is actually located on a map and different watches/warnings/advisories might overlap, making it harder to interpret a map.  Personally, I prefer the text pages to the maps that I see on the national HD local forecast.

See, having the text is great for the beginning of the LOT8s but if you show the local map with warning polygons on it, people are able to see the cities affected by the storm.  This allows for showing however many valid warnings instead of just one item at a time, which wastes a LOT of time.  Notice on the attached image how many watches/warnings can be shown...while if it were in text form, this would take 15 minutes to run.

I like reading the warning text as well but it's not practical for television viewers.  Also keep in mind that the national maps are more regional instead of the area that would be shown on your individual IStar.  A perfect method to show current alerts in a graphical form.

I'm really interested to see how it looks and how TWC ends up presenting the information on the screen.   To this day, I still wonder why watch/warning maps aren't shown during the LOT8s.  I know the "HDStar" used in NYC has a map similar to the national watch/warning map on the national forecasts.  This would be an awesome feature for the new HD Star...potentially with Jim doing narrations for them as well such as "Tornado Warning issued" or something.

Sorry about the quotes thing.  It was a fast reply while I still had the thought in my head.

I'm curious who TWC surveys when making decisions because it appears it's the wrong viewing audience.  Generally non-informational long-form programming, no clocks on new graphics, hodge-podge graphic themes between shows and products (such as SD vs HD), etc.

I knew you were going to argue that. Can't we just for once ignore posts we disagree with? I have my reasons for saying what I do, and there's no need to argue everything I say, especially if it is several posts above.

That's weird that they wouldn't discover the want of such a simple thing as a clock in their "research" to being with since after they do something without it, people go nuts and want it on whatever product they put out.  One would think this would be a substantial sign to keep the clock and not have to reinvent the wheel 5 times.
Then you probably knew I was going to chime in too.

As Mike said, TWC, as do all media outlets, researches extensively before implementing changes on-air. There clearly isn't a want for a clock or I can assure you it would be there. The clock wasn't on domestic IntelliStar's new LDL until it was extensively requested.

+1 for clock.  Why have they been forgetting about this in recent history??  A clock has been in TWC programming since I can remember in some shape or form.  I still wish they would have stayed with the LDL that is currently used for the LOT8s...with a couple modifications to show currents for cities and such.

I noticed that as well...and it's only on the new LDL.  The old logos (both SD and HD) were in the right location but the new logos are too far to the right and get cut off.  TWC should have kept the HD LDL that is used on the LOT8s.  It's cleaner, it has pertinent information, fits with TWC's graphic set and it just looks good.  *shrug*

HOORAY!!!  Maybe they'll continue to show more WEATHER information again on The WEATHER Channel!!
Don't count on it...

I still haven't seen this, sadly.  I think it's a step in the right direction.  Utilize the lower third of the screen with scrolling information while showing different info in the other 2/3 of the screen.  I'm VERY excited for the HDStar.  Then I can FINALLY get some use from TWC HD!
....the waiting is the hardest part :P

lol, ahhh Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.  Yeah, I finally saw it.  Definitely looks schnazzier than the SD Star version.  I'm still waiting for the STARs to be updated to include the HD feed.
