Even Better (Busiest/Boarded)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_the_United_States_by_passengers_boarded

Those top 12 work excellent for me!  I think it covers the nation really well and they are the busiest airports in the country anyway so my two cents is to go with that!

Brian, how is it looking for the overall progress?  Did you need any help with anything else?

Am I correct that the "post-transition" areas are Nashville and Murfreesboro?  To me the post led me to believe that the new IStar2 boxes would be sent out but for some reason still show either Nashville or Murfreesboro.
Usually post transition areas mean nodes and areas that had to wait to get certain HD channels while there were network upgrades done. It simply means a wider area will see those IS2s but they will only display those locations.

Thanks for the clarification  Now we just play the waiting game I guess.

First of all, just to let you know...I am terrible with math...so this may not help at all.  Would it be possible to determine where two cities are on the map and the radar data and then calculate how many pixels (or cm, in, whatever) are between the points?  If so, you could then divide the two and get a ratio % to reduce the size of the radar.

As for positioning, the best method may be finding the radar site locations and basing it off of that.  I'm assuming you are going off of this or something like it?   :dunno:

Here's another thing you can use.  I recorded these today if you want to replace the voice for the currents and forecast.  To me, the other voice was somewhat depressing.      Enjoy!

flrrys - snow flurries (icon 13)

These are the ones I know about right now...hopefully this helps.

-Question: Is there another regional satellite as an option?  For me, my map displays the central plains instead of northern plains.
-Question: Will the 5-day forecast be entered the same way it is now?  My NWS office doesn't put out the extended forecast in that format (or at least the system doesn't find it when I search to setup the config).
-Question: Will the sunrise/sunset data be grabbed from the NWS site with this build?  The current method claims the sun rises at 3:30a and sets at 7:20p here :S

Weatherscan Local - Update Progress - 7/13/2010

I just noticed that the song playing there is one of my favorites from TWC.  Brings back memories.    Would you be willing to share with me, please?  :thrilled:

Attached are some cleaned up moons I made if you would like to add them.

Here is an image I took during last month's tornado outbreak.  Feel free to use it on the bulletin page.

The flashiness of it is really cool...but maybe a bit too much.  Flying suns and moons, spinning cubes and what have you are a little much.    Also, isn't it assumed that when the clock is displayed next to the temp that the temp is the current reading?  The flipping between NOW and the temp is not needed.  The whole thing looks good but I still prefer the old blue LDL.  Simple and not too distracting but still showing pertinent information.

I love it!!  Questions:

1. When the text finishes scrolling (I'm assuming twice through), does it return to the normal LDL?
2. Is it possible to program the name (type) of advisory into the bar text instead of "Non-Precipitation Advisory"?
3. Does the bulletin screen stay until the watch/warning/advisory expires or is canceled?
4. Does the watch/warning/advisory get "bumped" out (replaced) by a newly-issued warning product?
5. Excellent work & great song choice!!!

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: IntelliStar 2 Videos!
« on: July 16, 2010, 10:15:53 AM »
My first impressions of this show a LOT of wasted space.  TWC seems to be into that as of late.  I really don't like the video for scattered showers/thunderstorms in the 48-hr forecast.  I enjoy seeing the storm clouds like in the current LOT8s.  I also think it needs some sort of LDL text to scroll through in that unused space between the radar and the logo.  All the info that the blue LDL has would be perfect.  The information flies through really fast and since 50 different things are happening at once, people may not catch the information.  Time/temp next to the logo would be excellent.  Also, text titles and information are the same color...the information doesn't pop out.  Everything seems graphically hidden in plain sight.  You have the temp on the left, detailed conditions bottom center, sky condition top center, etc.  It's all over the place.  I'm not a fan of the purplish background behind the temps on the left.  I also really hate the hourly forecast...the orange pillars of doom are WAY too distracting.  A simple blue gradient bar would do just fine.

Tyler, do you have any other videos of it in action?  Various flavors, LDLs, etc?

Ah ha!  Well, may I suggest the LDL font to be normal instead of bold?  If it's the legit font from the original, then I'll go with it :D just not bold (in that instance because it looks chunky).   I like the font used on this video (
Weatherscan XL Emulator - October 30 2007
) but the blue sky/cloud background (of course).

-For the on/off of the LDL, I would suggest the option to have it either on or off in the version build.  It's either on all the time (except the radar/satellite loops) or off...unless an alert pops up, which then overrides everything and displays whether you have the standard LDL selected as on or off.

-Small tweaks on the LDL (if you want)
---When it displays the current condition, could it say "Currently: T-Storm" instead of just "T-Storm"?
---Barometric Pressure says "29.91F In." right now - is it possible to have "29.91" F"  or "29.91in F"?
---Are wind gusts shown when applicable?  i.e. does it say "Wind: ESE 15 G25"? (That's how I would suggest to display it)

I have 3 full themes and a 4th one in the works.  I could send them to you if you'd like.  The zipped files are around 10mb each.  I even cleaned up the moons to look more graphically appeasing like on television.

-I noticed the clock moves up and down between frames.  Could the clock be set to the same coordinates on all slides?  It appears to be different on the regional sat/rad (one I noticed as of now).

-How does the bulletin page work?  Does it automatically jump to that when an alert is issued or is it placed after the title slides?

-Did you rummage through my suggestions on my other thread?  I have just a few!  Haha.  Hopefully you can use them.

-A watch/warning graphic would be sweet...I know many people enjoy just text but I think a combination of the two would be awesome.

-Let me know if you need any graphics or anything for the emulator!

I like the background (if it has some transparency).  If you are able to program the LDL background to have some transparency, then I say go for it.  If not, just text is fine.  If it's possible, I think it would be cool to have a yellow background and a red background (i.e. yellow for t-storm watch/warning, red for tornado watch/warning) to pop up when an alert is issued).

Will it be possible to display local alerts?  That would be sweet.

currently, i have the ldl working again. right now i have it being displayed on a blue-cloud background.
in regard to local warnings, the answer is that it def. works with them. theres a 3rd party program that ingests messages put out from the NWS, and instantly relays them to Weatherscan. This has always worked, even with the current public release, however when i build the next public release (hopefully soon), the alert add-on will be installed. in regard to the message ingester, instructions will follow too!

Very awesome!!  I don't mind the blue cloudy background for "non-alert mode".  Would it be possible to do the yellow/red background or perhaps just red when an alert is issued?

Also, the font seems too heavy.  Maybe a non-bold version would work, or perhaps a different font altogether.

How is the LDL controlled in the program?  Is it set to display on X slide and not on Y slide, is it timed or is it a check-box somewhere?
