I agree...this whole switching between two LDLs is really goofy...you can make a national map for one and it looks fine, but then the other it looks really stupid and probably covers a bunch of information.  Completely uncalled for!  Oh well...

TWC shouldn't call them lower thirds anymore...just..."the graphic that takes up half of the screen which you don't see most of anyway because the LDL is normally wasting all of that space anyway."  Any takers?
It's actually 40%, or 2/5ths... When they big LDL is on, they're called lower two-fifths >_> .... With the little LDL, they're still l3rds :P

lol, well now that we're bringing these crazy fractions into it     hahahaha

I would love the lower thirds more if they didn't have to be that huge because of the oversized LDL and the HD info that wastes space and shoves useless info down your throat.  :cry3:

Very awesome!!!!!!  It's like bringing each of our locations to YOU!

Would we be able to choose which icon set we'd like to display? ;)

Does anybody else hate how that blank background stays before/after the cues before/after breaks??  It REALLY bugs me!

Good concept...I think using that space for ads is ridiculously STUPID because it's just dead space.  They need to go back to doing like they used to do: put the ad boxes in the top right corner again on the banner (just like in the local forecasts).  Make it a little bigger so it can be seen while on the projection screen.  Keep the radar on the double-stack LDL (as shown) and stop making bad decisions :D

To me, it's weird that the fog w/ drizzle is animated with falling water droplets and a moving fog cloud...but the fog icon is static.  I also dislike the t-storm icon a LOT because you can't see the lightning on it at all.  I remember that the old icons for thunderstorm and strong thunderstorm were different, allowing for someone to look at it and say 'oh, maybe I should pay attention to the weather more today" instead of "oh, there's another cloud that looks like everything else on the screen" or something!  haha  Just a thought.

I think that would be ok...having the radar with warning polygons show up at the same time (in the ad space) would be perfect!

Good call, Martin!   Random note: have you seen the vertical blue bar in the projection screen?  Guess it's time to go back to chromakey!!

Ok, a lot of the day has gone by...and the LDL has been growing on me.  I enjoy the compact version a lot more than the "full" 1/3 screen version...but I still think they need to do the following:
1. Expand it to utilize more of the screen
2. Add the clock
3. Get rid of the on/off transition that shows just the blue on the bottom of the screen with no info
4. Solidify the temp position - i.e. like before, time/temp for the main location.  Don't get me wrong, I like seeing the current temp of surrounding locations, it's just confusing for less avid viewers to have the temperature changing all the time (especially since it's never been that way on TWC)
5. Get rid of the HD feed's national city list on the right side...bottom is more acceptable I suppose...more-so annoying with how much space it wastes for places I don't care about! :P
6. Change the brown/gold/yellow to more of a yellowish gold or perhaps light blue (like on the old LDL).  It seems very out of place compared to the rest of the graphics updates
7. Get rid of the goofy cheese wheel sun!

lghdude. you crack me up with that graphic. I agree with you on the LDL. They need to add more stuff such as the clock. Have you seen Matt (tpirfan28)'s mock ldl? I prefer it exactly like that, just to get rid of all that space.

If TWC add some "glow" to the sun, then it wouldnt be a cheeseball.

Thanks  :D   I did like the addition of the radar...makes the graphic come together better...but still huge on the screen.  As for the sun, maybe if there was an animated spinning wheel of cheese, people would not only enjoy it more...but TWC could also let Sargento purchase some ad time for each of the suns on the screen...just put a logo on it and watch it spin!
