Programming and Graphics / Official Hanna Hype Thread
« on: September 04, 2008, 06:11:22 PM »
With the debut of the Hanna and Ike opener (in the style of Gustav's opener), it's time to open up this thread.

When it potentially gets closer/stronger, I request the title gets changed to "Official Hanna Storm Alert Thread".

Programming and Graphics / Official Gustav Storm Alert Prediction Thread

Now that Gustav is a major hurricane, post in this thread when TWC will enter full Storm Alert mode.  Winner gets a nickle.

I'll say 12PM Sunday, after the eye crosses Cuba.

What are some of your favorite fast food/restaurants?  Mine are:

Culver's (was a regional burger chain...now sorta national)
Fazoli's (mmmm...breadsticks)
Hacienda (local mexican chain)

And yours?

General Discussion / "A New Direction" for Price is Right
« on: July 05, 2008, 08:39:51 PM »
After one year with Drew Carey at the helm of the longest running game show...the show is going a "new direction".  FremantleMedia, the company who virtually* took over after Mark Goodson's death and estate sale, has been wanting to, for lack of a better term, "modernize" the show and change things up...after Bob Barker (who had a virtual stranglehold on the proceedings) retired, one man was left to keep it together, producer Roger Dobkowitz.  Roger was the only member of the staff left that had been there the entire time...by this time he was responsible for selecting the games, the prizes, etc.  He also made sure the game itself wasn't changed...six games, two instances with the Big Wheel, two showcases, a set with three doors and a turntable, models to glamorize the prizes...that sort of thing.  That last part didn't sit well with FremantleMedia.

Thursday, after the final season 36 show taped, he was sacked.

I have read some crazy things could happen to the show for next season...possibly the reduction of games down to four (for more contestant interaction), possible sacking the bidding game before the contestant comes on stage, possibly changing the "come on down" format, possibly a video wall, and probably the most "wtf" thing...potentially the sacking of everything that made this Price is Right familiar (to make it different completely).  And that would include sending Plinko to the flamethrower.  This last paragraph is complete speculation.

But we get in HD!

Stay tuned.

Can someone please capture a high-quality clip of the SD Satellite local for me, and leave it uncompressed?  I need it for a little project I'm doing.  Thanks!

Programming and Graphics / Schedule heads-up
« on: April 20, 2008, 06:41:09 PM »
For those who might be interested, Forecast Earth will be replacing Storm Stories on Tuesday (Earth Day) at 2:00pm.  This probably will be a repeat of the episode from this weekend.

I don't mind this, as I personally think Forecast Earth could be a very good talk show-esque program that could air at that time...maybe a forecast at the top and bottom of the hours, and climate-related talk during the rest of the time.  Keep the Locals and I think we've got something.

TWC Artist Chat / Favorite Ryan Farish song(s)
« on: April 02, 2008, 01:23:08 PM »
First off, welcome Ryan, glad you joined us!

Now...what are some of your favorite songs (not only Ryan's, but all of the members here)?  I personally think the songs are a little too new age for me, but I really like Atlantica (used in '05 I think).

Local Forecast / Last Night's Events
« on: March 15, 2008, 10:47:07 AM »
Did anyone else's STARs virtually "lock-up" on a Local screen last night/this morning?  When I turned on at 6:30AM, it was just the first screen, not moving at all.  And it had to have been several hours, as the temperature was 6 degrees warmer than the air temp.

New song at 11:08...not good, but not bad.  And not Hughes or Farish either.
