I like that.  Maybe instead of using lower thirds they can kill the IStar LDLs and replace the national thingy with the news?

Xbox 360 Arcade.  Brand spanking new from Walmart for what would total $110 ($149+free $50 gift card).

In Lansing, we were able to get two digital cable boxes, in addition to two digital transport adapters, free of charge. We also swapped out a digital cable box for an HD box, again free of charge. My dad and I walked into the Comcast office between Lansing and the E.L. this afternoon, and were told we could only have two digital transport adapters, and a digital cable box would cost $7.95 more per month.
You seem to be close enough to me that these figures should be the same, so here goes.

You should only be getting 1 SD box + 2 DTAs free from Comcast.  Additional boxes are $7.95, DTAs $1.95.  HD is $7.95 one-box fee.  So in your situation you should be charged $7.95 total for 1 free SD box + 1 HD box + 2 DTAs.

In my prior experience, a laptop is going to be more taxed than a desktop when dealing with video.  Donno how much that's changed with new processors and new technology.  I built a dedicated recording box for ~$550 and it runs swimmingly (2.5Ghz dual-core Intel, 2GB ram, 1TB hard drive, Hauppauge 2250 dual tuner card, Win7 Home) - can record two HD feeds + watch a third without breaking a sweat.  Might be worth looking into a dedicated machine at that cost.  Once digital CableCard solutions come out for the PC it will probably become my all-in-one digital box.  Plus you get Windows 7 Media Center which is the best thing to come out of Redmond in a very long time.

You could probably do it cheaper with parts-on-hand/not as fancy tuner card.

I can give them a pass on this one since TWC has morphed into more of an environmental network than a pure weather channel (looking at you, Forecast Earth).  Let me know when they cover the State of the Union or somesuch.

They ran a small bit saying that they are preempting long-form because of developing weather...real nice bit.  Someone must have gotten it...

No Weatherscan on Comcast? That's really surprising. The majority of Comcast headends east of the Mississippi carry Weatherscan. Maybe there's just no need for it in your market.
No Weatherscan here, either.

My feed is now really really soft compared to other channels/normal.  IStar is still down.

Okay, yes, I'm disappointed in TWC's lack of coverage during the outbreak last afternoon/evening.  Being in the area and fed Storm Stories, yeah.  Dual-feed was never used.  This would be an ideal time for the STAR to go into some sort of Weatherscan mode that can loop a 2min local with the music on the system or so.

What I'm more pissed about is the double-standard.  They preempted long-form today because the same front is hitting NE.  All I ask is that their preemption policy is uniform.

*I* can't wait for CableCard tuners for the PC...

I thought some were selling?
New ones that aren't technically illegal...

Silicondust makes network TV tuners and they are making a three-tuner.  Big fan on Media Center on Windows 7.

Mine looks like this (except with a Comcast logo of course):

You're getting the iGuide like the Moto boxes soon.

For the record, I've got the Moto box with the iGuide and all that jazz.
