Coats did indeed create a party change, but he was not up against an incumbent.

Dumbass question: isn't that over in the WUWA area of the HD studio.

And it's totally a temp screen.  Really nice temp screen, though.

There must be a good reason why every time I turn on TWC here recently they've been using the green screens.

I don't really see anything special about 10/10/10.  It's just a normal day like any other.

Everything Else TWC / Re: TWC Getting Back Into Weather?
« on: October 06, 2010, 01:17:23 PM »
You must be talking about during the week b/c whenever I look at the schedule on the weekends, it's nothing but long-form programming. Half of the programs, I might add, I've never even heard of.
Pretty sure they've doubled the amount of weather programming from 2PM on the weekends with this recent schedule change.

I hope that NBC realizes that they have pretty much a perfect suite of dedicated cable channels (MSNBC for news, TWC for weather, CNBC for business) and keep it that way.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Time Warner Cable vs. WFAA-TV/Belo Corp.
« on: September 25, 2010, 04:36:52 PM »
Ok lets make a template for every station dispute that ever occurs:

1. Cable company A wants more money
2. TV Station doesn't want to pay
3. TV Station runs ads, and tells viewers that cable company is evil and bad
4. Cable company says TV Station is selfish and hurting viewers
5. No agreement is made until less than 24hrs before the cutoff date
6. A "last minute" deal is made saving everything
7. Nobody cares
Unless I've gone mental, you've got 1 and 2 reversed...the station wants more money, cable co. doesn't want to pay.

Programming and Graphics / New Schedule
« on: September 24, 2010, 10:12:59 AM »
Monday-Thursday

4-6AM: First Outlook
6-7AM: Al
7-10AM: Your Weather Today
10-11AM: Al
11-2PM, 2-5PM: Day Planner
5-7PM: 4 Storm Stories
7-8PM, 8-10PM, 10-11PM, 11-1AM, 1-2AM, 2-4AM: Weather Center

Friday:
Same until 7PM
7-8PM: Weather Center
8-9PM: When Nature Strikes Back
9-10PM: Tornado
---this three hour block repeats until 4AM Saturday

Weekend:
4AM: Weather Classroom
4:30AM: Sunrise Weather
5-7AM, 7-9AM, 9-11AM: Weekend View
11-2PM: Weekend Now
2PM: Storm Riders
2:30PM: Storm Stories
3PM: Sea Tek
3:30PM: Cantore Stories
4-5PM: PM Edition
--- the whole 2-5 PM block repeats until 4AM, except that Weatherproof replaces Sea Tek at 8PM (and repeats with the block) and Weather Center replaces PM Edition at 10PM and also repeats with the block

I think this is a very good schedule...especially the weekday.  5-7PM I would think that most people would get their weather on their local newcasts, so why bother with live programming then?

There have been rumblings that The View might go syndicated as a replacement...many stations might just move existing talk shows there (Phil/Ray/Oz/Berkus).  Interesting with CBS adding another talker with Julie Chen that my affiliate will be airing 3 hours of talk, all in a row (Talk/Phil/Oprah).
