General Discussion / Any Solar Flares Reported?
« on: June 05, 2009, 04:04:44 PM »
Are there any Solar Flares that we're not aware of? Because the signals on Time Warner Cable have been messing up. It's not just The Weather Channel, it's every channel. The reception on each channel if fizzling out almost to the point of going black every 5 to 15 seconds.

General Discussion / Re: Traffic lights
« on: June 05, 2009, 02:04:53 PM »
My hometown's traffic lights are installed horizontally and all of the traditional bulbs (except the fire signals near the fire stations) have been replaced with fluorescent bulbs. The lights along the SH-183 service road were LEDs, but they too have been replaced with fluorescent ones.

What do the fluorescent bulbs look light? :dunno: (Because the LEDs are the ones that have dots, right?)
Let's put it like this, even with the color lenses, I recognize the circle and the coil behind it. These fluorescent bulbs are probably specially made to come on instantly instead of fading on.

WeatherPlus is still around Dallas/Fort Worth. Just like a few other stations, it's now "NBC Plus" and it replaces the music with a live feed from NOAA Weather Radio station KEC-55 in Fort Worth.

Local Forecast / Miles Davis on PBS
« on: June 01, 2009, 12:22:24 AM »
This Tuesday Night at 10:30PM, "The Sound Of Miles Davis" will be airing on KERA-TV (PBS Affiliate) in DFW. This 1/2 hour special shows a 1959 performance by the Miles Davis Quintet (Davis, John Coltrane, bassist Paul Chambers, drummer Jimmy Cobb and pianist Wynton Kelly) best known for "So What?" and "Freddie Freeloader" on the LFs, backed by an orchestra conducted by Gil Evans.

I don't know if it's gonna be airing on your local PBS station, but if it does, check your local listings...knowing that times on each PBS station varies.

TWC Fan Art / Re: Michael's Modified TWC Icons
« on: May 28, 2009, 06:35:31 PM »
I've managed to get a hold of MSN's front page weather icons. Most of the icons are repeats, so that's why I made a few modified ones.

DISCLAIMER: All known materials are property of MSN, a subsidiary of Microsoft, however the following icons are property of their creator Michael Raymond. They can be used freely, however, it is asked that you do not redistribute them. Thanks for your cooperation.

If anybody wants a full MSN icon set, let me know and I'll post a ZIP folder.

I'm a give this playlist 2 1/2 out of 5 stars before it even begins. Shame on you NBCU for being VERY skimpy on the jazz music.
