TWC Fan Art / Re: TWCZach's Emulations and Drawings
« on: August 30, 2009, 03:49:13 PM »
With Farmers' Almanac's predictions of wet snow all along the Gulf Coast, I came up with some CC screens. I made my first ever IS v2 CC screen and redid my XL v3 CC screen. Results attached.

Also, please tell me if you see any mistakes, your feedback is great to me.
Excellent job!! They're almost spot-on!

Local Forecast / Re: TWC Songs you've heard in other places

Last night at the mall I heard Restless Heart by Chris Geith.
Out of all places, I wouldn't expect CG music away from TWC unless it was from the Smooth Jazz II CD.
There are some places that might've gotten their hands on TWC's Smooth Jazz CDs. I'm still waiting for the Irving Mall to do the same.

Early yesterday morning, ABC was playing "Wait A Minute" by Mark Krurnowski on their short weather segment

"Moments in Love" by The Art of Noise was played on 2 stations before it made its way to TWC:

 - KOAI (now KMVK) Smooth Jazz 107.5 The Oasis
 - KBFB 97.9 The Beat (as background music during their "Quiet Storm" hour)

I wish Time Warner Cable in my area would play that ad. :rofl2:

If that happens, Time Warner here in North Texas will revert back to Comcast.

I also think that their recent dispute with Belo Corp. (which is now resolved) might've been another factor.

As mentioned in the Icons Discussion topic, I saw the "Windy" icon used for the first time on the Current Conditions section of weather.com. Although my local IS only used the "Cloudy" icon in the CC slides and the "Cloudy and Windy" icon on the Metro Map, I figured: Why not show the "Windy" icon on the IntelliStar?

You can tell how dreamy I'm being if I were to see these on TWC at my new High School.

I'll attach them too so you can view them at full size.

We can only dream. Great concepts though!

General Discussion / Re: Bad restaurant conversions
« on: August 14, 2009, 09:31:35 AM »
To start off:

 - One of my local Denny's restaurants also converted to a car dealership.
 - A Long John Silvers/A&W restaurant in central Irving was closed off for a year. It was then reopened as La Isla serving Tex-Mex...only to suffer a demise after 3 months. (Good thing a couple friends of mine found another LJS/A&W location nearby.)
 - Another Denny's in Irving was closed and demolished to make way for extra parking for Baylor Medical Center. (The only other remaining Denny's I know of is located in western Irving)
 - A Shlotzky's Deli (located on the same street as the former LJS/A&W) was transformed into Texas Car Title & Payday Loans.
 - A TCBY restaurant transformed into A-Affordable Insurance.
 - A Chinese restaurant (located near my favorite Crystal's Pizza parlor) has been changed to Lone Star Title Loans (like we don't have enough of those around town).
 - And lastly, my favorite drive-in homemade burger place was changed into one Temp. Agency after another.

One thing I've noticed on my local IntelliStar (#22105) is that there are 2 different Irving observation sites. These 2 pieces of fan art will show you examples:

It seems Zach has passed the boredom on to me. I've just created my concept of a Travel Forecast utilizing the current IS Marine template.
