General Discussion / Radio's Music Trials
« on: December 24, 2011, 12:51:51 AM »
Has your local radio stations done any "Music Trials" past or present? Those who don't know what it is, a DJ of the radio station is given an unknown song from a famous artist/group and they play it on the air at a certain time. And their listeners call in to see if they like it or they don't.

 - Back when 100.3 in DFW used to be "KRBV Wild 100" (before Jack FM took over in 2004), they titled theirs' "The Wild Trials: Do It or Screw It".

 - One person on another message board site said her radio station did "Jam It or Slam It".

 - Recently, the music trials have returned to the DFW radio market, this time on Hip-Hop station 97.9 The Beat titled as "Smash or @$$". Smash if they like it,  :censored: if they don't. (I can't believe they let their listeners use that word on the phones. Then again, what Hip-Hop station doesn't use such language? LOL!!)

"The In Crowd" by Ramsey Lewis Trio must've been very popular last night. Within 15 minutes of each other, it was playing on 100.3 HD2 The Sound of The Strip and 91.7 KXT.

Last night, I've heard "Away in a Manger" by Kenny G (used in the 90s Christmas playlists) used as background music while Delilah was giving some advice on the differences between friendship and love (via 103.7 Lite FM).

Classic Rock station Lone Star 92.5 used a snippet of "Let It Rain" by Eric Clapton for a short montage of a few artists' self-promotions before/after a commercial break.

You actually have to me a member of Weather Central to get this icon set. So i'm not sure if your able to or not.
Ah, what a pity. They almost look like the ones Texas Cable News (TXCN) used during their weather segments.

General Discussion / Re: Kevin Martin vs. NOAA/NWS

The entire weather community can breathe a sigh of relief.

Storm Central Salutes Kevin Martin In Thanks To His 15 Years Of Service

Kevin Martin, Owner and Operator of The Weather Space and Southern California Weather Authority, will be retiring after his 15 years in service in the weather department on Thursday.

Recently, Google has cut all of the “Medium Business Sites” off of the news tab under the Google News Homepage which has indefinitely affected the income of the site. The Weather Space’s Stats dropped from

over 25,000 a day to just reaching on average 3,000 a day. Along with Google Ad sense changes in the income of a building site, Kevin was forced to throw in the towel as it is not enough income to keep the sites running.

Not in sympathy, Kevin would also like to note that he is getting a divorce with his wife and she cleaned him out of money.

General Discussion / Merry Christmas from...NOAA Weather Radio?

It's a 2 year old classic, but it's still full of laughs. The NWS WFO staff must've had a lot of fun with "Perfect Paul".

General Discussion / I was on TV early this morning!
« on: November 22, 2011, 05:36:21 PM »
Don't mean to brag, but early this morning, I was one of the many fans featured on WFAA-TV's "News 8 Daybreak" for their crazy party at Victory Park in Dallas!

Those who are early birds, many of you may know news anchor Ron Corning, previously of "The Daily Buzz" and ABC's "World News Now" and "World News/America This Morning". Earlier this year, he joins WFAA-TV's News 8 Daybreak. Let the "shameless promotions" begin. LOL!!

News 8 "More Ron"

With that being said, I've won myself a "More Ron" shirt (say it fast enough and it's "moron". LOL!! :bleh:) during one of their promotion contests. And days later, I got to participate in a fan gathering of classic proportions. Here are a couple clips from WFAA's website:

 - Group rises early for the 'More Ron' party
In this clip, I'm somewhere on the left side waving.
 - 'Dancing with the Stars' talk at the 'More Ron' party
In this one, I'm between Ron Corning and traffic reporter Alexa Conomos.
