As good as the WSI icons are (seen on KDFW Fox 4 in Dallas), I still like the TWC icons better.

General Discussion / Re: RIP Andy Gabrielson - Storm Chaser
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:40:59 PM »
I saw him interviewed on my local ABC affiliate WFAA-TV the night before the tragic accident. To this day, I'm still shocked and saddened . My thoughts and prayers go out to Andy's family and friends.

Here's WFAA-TV's news story prior to Andy's untimely death.

WFAA-TV's next update hours after the crash.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the wrong-way driver as 55-year-old Gregory Preston Gilcrease, who had a prior arrest for public intoxication last month. There is no full confirmation on whether he was on the influence of alcohol or something else at the time...or if Gregory was suicidal. (Link to identification story)

Small town bottler out of the Dr Pepper business

It's the end of an era for the Dr Pepper that so many of us love — the soft drink that's sweetened with real cane sugar and manufactured in a small-town Texas bottling plant.

Soft drinks are a cutthroat business. Coke and Pepsi have been fighting for years. Now comes Dr Pepper.

The story line: If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em. And one-third of the workers in a small business will lose their jobs as a result.

Dublin's Dr Pepper was made with pure cane sugar (instead of beet sugar or corn syrup) in the world's oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant located 75 miles southwest of Fort Worth. It has a devoted following.

General Discussion / Year-Round Classes?!
« on: January 10, 2012, 10:16:28 AM »
The debate for year-round classes arises once again at Dallas Independent School District.

Quote
DISD considers year-round classes

DALLAS (WFAA-TV) - One phrase could trigger fear and anxiety for kids everywhere, year-round school.

While it might be a student's summer nightmare, it could soon become reality for those in the Dallas Independent School District.

What are your thoughts on this? Good idea or bad idea?

The Ramsey Lewis Trio's instrumental version of "The 'In' Crowd" was recorded in 1965, the same year after Dobie Gray released his version. Their jazzy take, recorded live in a Washington, D.C. night club, reached #5 in the U.S.

It's not every day that a jazz song makes it into the Top 40 charts. With that being said...

"Morning Dance" by Spyro Gyra became a Top 40 hit in the United States, where it peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 1979. It remained in the Top 40 for eight weeks. Although Spyro Gyra is well-known and has sold millions of albums worldwide, this single is the band's sole U.S. top 40 hit to date.

Had the same issue with my IS before they switched the main city to Grapevine. The main "Irving" one was reported near Downtown. However, the other "Irving" site seen on the 8-cities list and the metro map was reported from DFW Airport.

Hi STAR team. Is IntelliStar #22105 under repairs today? I've noticed that my area was switched back to #22103. Not that I'm complaining now that the local commercial inserts at :17/:47 are cued on time rather than the 7 second delay.

Thanks in advance!!
