Before "I Will Posses Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie aired on TWC's LOT8s, I heard that song played on:

 - KDGE 102.1 The Edge (as well as its "The Cutting Edge" HD2 counterpart)
 - KJKK 100.3 HD3 The Indie-Verse

It's somewhat of an improvement from the last playlist. Still needs some jazz in it though.

I never though "I Will Posses Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie would be picked up.  I wonder if it's the long intro in their full album version.

General Discussion / Clear-channel/"Blowtorch" Stations
« on: March 01, 2012, 08:18:00 AM »
Just outta curiosity: What clear-channel (border-blaster or blowtorch) AM stations do you pick up in your area? Clear-channel (not to be confused with Clear Channel Communications) is a type of radio station that extends beyond their coverage at night to dozens of other states. (More info on Wikipedia)

Aside from my local ones; WBAP News/Talk 820 and KRLD NewsRadio 1080, the other stations I picked up so far are:

- KFAQ 1170 - Tulsa, OK
- KMOX 1120 - St. Louis, MO
- WHO 1040 - Des Moines, IA
- XEEP 1060 - Mexico City

There could be a few more signals to find, but I'm hoping to pick up other stations in San Antonio, Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and a few other cities.

General Discussion / Re: Weather Dreams
« on: February 09, 2012, 12:03:01 AM »
Back in early 1998, I had this dream where I briefly stepped outside my home for some fresh air and next thing you know, I'm staring at a huge F-5 tornado. Went back inside and took cover after that.

General Discussion / Re: How many weather radios do you own?
« on: February 08, 2012, 10:59:22 PM »
I also have one other radio that has "Weather Band". Although I got one NOAA broadcast from Dallas, I couldn't get the other from Fort Worth. I'm assuming that the 'WX Band' tuning is outta alignment.

There are currently seven VHF stations used for NOAA weather radio broadcasts.  Older radios may have as few as four.  VERY old radios will have only one.
The biggest laugh is I got that emergency radio almost 2 years ago from Toys 'R' Us. Originally it was for a friend of mine living in a boarding house in Dallas who wanted to know the weather every day. Some time in 2011, he returned it to our place fearing that some others might steal it and sell it for money and/or drugs.

Make up Big Picture

Those are great!!

BTW, you're not working with Dallas-based WFAA-TV or Belo Corp. do you? Those icons look exactly like the ones used on WFAA (seen on image below).

I remember seeing many episodes of "Soul Train" during my childhood. He'll dearly be missed.

I'm a bowler!! It's been almost a year since I last went. Need to fine-tune my skills one of these days.

The highest I scored was a 150 (after scoring a Turkey) back in 2009.

General Discussion / Re: RIP Andy Gabrielson - Storm Chaser
« on: February 07, 2012, 10:58:21 PM »
Wow, that really sucks! He didn't die while storm-chasing, was he? I know that accidents and not the tornadoes themselves are the biggest dangers that storm chasers have to endure while heading out.

R.I.P. Mr. Gabrielson though.
No he didn't. He was heading home to Minnesota, until some wrong-way driver struck and killed him.
