I am not excited for YET ANOTHER long form show on TWC, but this one actually sounds interesting to me imo.

Your Local Weather / Lansing Weather
« on: April 23, 2009, 10:39:52 PM »
Well, here is a topic I am starting to post weather highlights and forecasts for right here in the Capital City. Please feel free to reply   :)

Here is a start:

Highlights:
Day 1: After a small group of showers moves through tonite (no one is sure exactly where this are of t-storms is going, so we are under the forecast of "Isolated Thunderstorms"), winds will rush out of the southwest. Temps are expected to saor well into the 70's, and possibly touch 80. This temperature has been lowered from 82, which it was at this morning.

Day 2: Winds are to continue gusting out of the southwest through the day Saturday. A front wil be moving closer to the area, but will not move through on Saturday itself.

Day 3: A front will be pretty close to the area, but again, won't move through on Sunday either. As of now, the SPC does have Lansing under a slight risk for severe weather (see image below). Damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall from thunderstorms (Flash Flooding?) are the primary threats expected.

Day 4-5: This front will be slow to move through the area. Thunderstorms remain in the forecast through Tuesday, but it is too early to tell if severe weather is anticipated.

Contributions / Aaron's XL/4000 Contributions
« on: April 10, 2009, 09:56:43 AM »
I love to travel, and since I now have a TV tuner, it is a lot easier to catch videos of whatever Star system I see. There are plenty of XL's left in northern Michigan, and I do consider myself lucky for that

I hope to eventually catch video of the Weatherstar 4000.

Anyway, here is a thread I thought I would start to share my videos!

General Discussion / Deadly shootings in Binghamton, NY
« on: April 04, 2009, 07:32:17 AM »
As of 7:30 AM EDT, 14 people are dead in the Binghamton, NY Civic Association building. The identity of the shooter remains a mystery, but he appears to be of Vietnamese descent. The shooter blocked the back door with his car and ran in the front door. Updates will be posted here as they arrive.

TWC and your Cable Company / Cable Provider?
« on: March 20, 2009, 03:23:16 PM »
I know this has almost no correlation to TWC, but I was wondering which cable provider people would prefer to have. Do you like the current one you have?

Local Forecast / 2007 Music Playlists
« on: March 20, 2009, 03:16:46 PM »
Does anyone know the playlists from any of the months in 2007? I am exclusively asking for the September 2007 playlist, but I would also appreciate other playlists from that year, since I barely remember it. Were April and May on the same playlist? I realize we are still looking for some songs from April 2007.

Local Forecast / "Breathe In" by 7 and 5
« on: March 13, 2009, 06:15:59 PM »
Hello everyone! I am calling upon everyone for help. "Breathe In" by 7 and 5 is my all-time favorite TWC song. I want to e-mail Brian Picard, the LF music coordinator, asking him to put this song on the playlist sometime this year. But to influence his opinion, I need more than just my request. This is where you all come in. Would anyone agree to sign a petition to have it played this year?
-Thanks

Local Forecast / Intellistar- Do you like the current version?
« on: March 12, 2009, 09:47:19 AM »
I am just curious which version is favored the most. I am definitely going to have to say 8/15/05-12/12/06 is my personal favorite. I HATE the current intellistar. The new icons are horrible and ugly-looking. The background has no transitions and looks like a colored pencil drawing. The graphic on the text based forecast is a joke, with goofy unnecessary sound effects added.
Just my 2¢  :)

TWC and your Cable Company / Cable Providers

I realize it usually says what cable provider each person has on their profile, but I wanted to see what it all looks like together.

General Discussion / Nearest Creek/River Observation Site
« on: March 11, 2009, 05:14:21 PM »
So, where is the nearest creek/river observation site to where you live?

What stage is it currently in?

In E. Lansing, I live close to the Red Cedar River at E. Lansing and it is currently in minor flood stage. A flood warning has been issued.
In Lansing, I live close to the Grand River at Lansing and it is also in flood stage. A flood warning has been issued.

TWC and your Cable Company / AT&T U-Verse?
« on: March 04, 2009, 07:48:02 PM »
AT&T U-Verse is springing up in several areas across the country, and is already in the state of Michigan. The cable service, accessed by set-top boxes for each TV, is expected to be widely available in the East Lansing area. I am hoping to be able to get it within the next 12 months, replacing Comcast. When I get it, I will be getting TWC HD as well! I am stoked!  :thrilled:
Can't wait!
