General Discussion / Re: Daylight Savings Time!
« on: March 04, 2009, 03:53:12 PM »
I am so enthusiastic for the time change!  :D
I am setting all kinds of reminders/alarms to make sure I am not asleep  B) I was actually able to get a recording of my intellistar with the time change from 1:59 to 1:00 back in November, which I have posted on youtube, and I can't wait to see the time change from 1:59 to 3:00 on Sunday!

General Discussion / Re: Gas prices in your area

It varies here. As far as I know (being the gas price watcher and enthusiast I am  ), gas prices are between $1.70 and $1.99.  :noexpression:

Local Forecast / Re: Weatherstar 4000 Locations that remain
« on: March 04, 2009, 03:45:17 PM »
Damn, another one bites the dust.  :pinch:
Yeah, it's sad :(
Although most WS 4000's that are being upgraded are being upgraded to the XL, the Intellistar is far cheaper and has more features. Most 4000's and XLs that remain exist in areas that there would be no point to have Intellistar. These include rural, sparsely populated, or mountainous areas. If the specific cable provider/headend decides that it is necessary to change to the Intellistar because the area is populated enough and coverage area warrants it, then they will do so. But if the area is sparsely populated and/or large, then the headend will likely either stay with 4000 or upgrade to XL if they have the money.

Yeah, I know how it works.
I'm sure you do
I was just typing that to respond to the 4000 being downgraded to Intellistar  :P
It is sad to hear about a 4000 going to an Intellistar  :(

Here's the Emergency Feed

When was this taken?

Did you read the time on the LDL? :noexpression:

I can't see it, it's too small and too low quality.  Even so, the time does no good if I don't know what date it was taken, which does not display on the LDL or in satellite.  :dunno:

-St. Louis, Missouri (backup)
4000 in St Louis? I find that hard to believe. And what do you mean by 'backup'?
I copied the list over from wikipedia, and I was in a huge hurry when I did so. Either that is the observation site for a nearby 4000, or that was an error.

2:55 AM ET. The last segment of WCWC ran really short, so in the second hour of the rebroadcast, we saw a really long black screen followed by some Trammell Emergency feed.

Thanks for sighting Billy!  :thrilled:

Everything Else TWC / Re: Trammell or a striking resemblance?
« on: March 03, 2009, 03:51:59 PM »
I found an interesting video clip on Youtube earlier today. Its a commercial from 1996 for Rite Aid. It seems that the background tune sounds almost EXACTLY like Better Than Nothing by Trammell Starks. It's interesting because I had been having a memory of a commercial from about that time that had a background tune that sounded like Trammell, but I thought it was a Sprint commercial, not Rite Aid.

Anyway, take a listen for yourself:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUnRzeM45js

Now, you have the best chance to listen in the first few seconds, as after that vocals come in as does a narrator. Does that not sound like Trammell?

Well that's just great, the video had copyright claimed by Rite Aid? Since when would Rite Aid care?  :dunno:

Wow, that is interesting! I never noticed that before!

5203
I will never know for sure.  I have basically grown up with The Weather Channel. It has always been an interest and at times, a fascination to me   :)

I have heard that Charter sucks, and it probably does (although I have yet to see that for myself, since Charter wasn't so bad for me when I stayed in its coverage area). However, at this point, I would take ANY cable provider over the supreme monopoly known as Comcast  :censored:
