General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: April 08, 2009, 09:32:15 PM »
Should I create a new Wikipedia article on the old Weather Center, and rename the current WC article to "Weather Center (2009)"? I'm working on spliting that article into two pages and I'd like your input before I submit the changes. I really think we should have two separate articles on this; the old WC is nothing like the current WC at all, the only similarity is the name. Also, information about Overnight Outlook is included in both the Evening Edition and Weather Center articles. IMO, it would be cleaner if we had a separate article on OO. The article on the old WC would also include information about WC AM and WC PM.
 Yes, I think you should make a new article for the old Weather Center and rename the current WC article, and edit it.

Lansing (Intellistar Unit 22840):

In the metro map:

In the regional map:

East Lansing (Intellistar Unit 22842):

In the metro map

In the regional map:

Lansing's metro map used to feature Western Michigan during the pre-HiRAD days of Intellistar, and the following cities:
-Lansing
-Battle Creek
-South Haven
-Grand Rapids
-Muskegon

Also, Lansing's regional map used to be the same as what East Lansing's is now, but it was changed during Spring Break in early April 2007 to what it is now. I remember coming home from a trip to Missouri to see the new metro map. Back when Lansing had the metro map that East Lansing now has, there never was a Current Conditons report for Hamilton (Ontario), except for the temperature, but no sky condition. This still happens on the East Lansing Intellistar.

Are people not interested in what I upload to YouTube anymore? I haven't been receiving as many ratings, comments, and favorites in recent months, yet some other people's videos seem to be more popular. Back in 2006/2007 I received at least five comments everyday, and people always favorited my videos.
It probably has to do with people not having enough free time. I haven't gotten many comments in my videos either, that only changes if I upload new videos.
Same here too. I hardly get comments unless I upload new videos, and after about 2 days of each video being on youtube, it stops getting comments/ratings/favoritings. Just look at the XL videos I uploaded recently. It cost a lot of money to go up there for one night just to record the XL, and now after almost two days, I am not getting anything from them  :hmm:

I don't know if this is just my Intellistar or anybody else's, but my Intellistar has been ending two seconds or so past the music, and the audio is constantly in and out for the last 20-30 seconds. Also, I saw two seconds of the satellite LF before my Intellistar cued in on the most recent LF. However, this only occurred at 9:38 AM EDT.

Today, the monthly precip indicator switched from NWS sites to Truepoint sites. All Istars should now show the precip data from your HiRAD ob point.
So more illegitament information now?
What are they going to guess on next?

Yes, a new station ID and a new LF intro were introduced today.  I think someone else mentioned them in the TWC General Discussion thread, too.
I actually noticed two new station ID's this morning, the other one being of what looked like a dock at the level of a lake.
It's about time since they change the Station ID's.
Exactly, could not agree more.
I actually saw one that looked like a city at 5:57

I ended up avoiding the whole storm altogether  :hmm: , and stayed up in Houghton Lake for the night.  :thrilled: Lansing was socked with heavy snow, and got at least a half a foot.  :)

new LOT8s intro...they reused the rain filling up the logo but added a woman narration "You're watching The Weather Channel, and now your LOT8s
I see there finally is also a new station ID...
I stand corrected, there appears to be two of them at this time...
