Local Forecast / Re: Consistant data loss?
« on: May 05, 2009, 07:53:42 AM »
Has this been happening to anyone else?

For the past 2 weeks at least, I've observed that my IS is missing data from the Daypart Forecast (only the first slot contains data), and the Metro Forecast map (3 to 4 locations missing data). This has all been occurring in the evening hours, around 7-9 PM local time.
Don (DJK5555) reported this problem happening with his IntelliStar in NW Indiana too. Didn't hear this happening anywhere else, though.
It happens on occasion here. I know it has happened as my Intellistar has rebooted once, and it also happened when we were having that flavor beta test back on square root day in early March. I have not seen it happen as a regular occurance here though. :noexpression:

I'm going to Philly tomorrow. I'm tempted to record the Voorhees IS but I"m not allowed to bring the laptop. They have a flat screen TV, is there a way I can record the intellistar there if I sneaked in?
Were you told that you are not allowed to bring it?

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: AT&T U-Verse?
« on: May 04, 2009, 04:40:50 PM »
AT&T U-Verse is apparently now available in my zip code, according to TV-Guide. If it wasn't for TWC, we would switch in a hurry  :rofl2: :run:

General Discussion / Re: Swine Flu
« on: May 04, 2009, 04:17:17 PM »
Same here. For the first time in a long time I'm actually bored. My school has been shut down due to confirmed cases of swine flu in the Houston Metro.  Which means my summer vacation is pushed back!
I would be angry too!
Yeah, same here. I would think though, that since this is an unforseen event, that it would be forgiven. I know that here in Haslett, the school day was extended (mainly to account for the later start in the year, as it is now state law that all schools in the state not on contract start the day after Labor Day). This extension also adds a bonus in that if something happens during the year, we have some time to account for it.

Well today is a rocky start. My little sister got sent home from school because she was showing flu-like symptoms. I think her teacher was pretty much overreacting because she woke up with a cough and runny nose. It was nothing severe really. And also she came out negative yesterday when we crossed the border from Mexico last night.

Also games this week for baseball have been cancelled as well. I hate you, Swine Flu....and pigs too.  <_<
Yeah, the Swine Flu story is annoying me too, and I feel for you there. I would be furious with it too if I were in your shoes. Also, I have never been one for pigs either. I think bacon is one of the most disgusting foods out there, and I hardly ever eat ham.  I pride myself that I am in Michigan, where nothing that is a major threat to large masses of people exists. Michigan is well away from Mexico. However, I can't capitalize on that forever. The Swine Flu is bound to come through the "metropolitan" areas of Flint, Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Lansing as well. I think that at some point some schools in the Lansing area could in fact close.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: May 04, 2009, 04:06:23 PM »
Great Escapes week is this week. I just realized that they never made any announcement last week...now this week they are promoting it. Plus, Natalie Allen...the Great Escapes reporter??
Yeah, that is odd. I am beginning to think she was not laid off, but became one of those "fill-ins", in that she will always be there when TWC needs her. So, she really did not get laid off. As to why TWC is having Natalie report as opposed to one of the many other people they have to do field reporting, I do not know.  :dunno:

Local Forecast / Re: April 2009 playlist delayed!
« on: May 04, 2009, 04:04:04 PM »
I wish they would have a May playlist. I'm kind of sick of this one already.
Wonder how long its going to take them to change it. :club:
They are most likely going to do the same thing with this playlist that they did with the last one: it will last one month and a half. I have never heard of any playlist only lasting half of a month. Expect a new playlist in June  <_<

Local Forecast / Re: Need a song ID'd from August...
« on: May 04, 2009, 07:43:14 AM »
I've asked Jeanne many times if the August and September 2008 songs will be available in the future, but I've never got an answer. :(
i've tried to ask her many times but its still unanswered
Yeah, she is not online all that much. She was conveniently online either shortly after or a month-two months before my original account was suspended on youtube.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Rare
« on: May 04, 2009, 06:13:16 AM »
Warren is one of the best OCMs left. I've got a full hour of footage of him back when he worked the overnight shift. I've always liked his enthusiasm.
Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with that too :)

Still great to see him on though.
Agreed. he is not the best meteorologist TWC has ever had, but he has been there for a long time, and he reminds me of the past, imo.

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion
« on: May 03, 2009, 07:37:17 PM »
Yes Wunderground has a great network of personal weather stations. Its the place I stream my station to
They are okay, but a lot of them don't report sky conditions, so any sky condition you see on a personal weather station actually comes from the nearest airport. I've also came across a few that report inaccurate temperatures when the sun shines on them.
Ha i wish I could report sky conditions.  Equipment cost a fortune though <_<
I would just report sky conditions myself manually just by looking at the sky.  Sometimes, the LF's sky conditions don't always match up with what you see out the window.
Well, that seems a little far-fetched to always look at the sky and report it on a computer. For some reason, I can't even send in daily reports to CoCoRaHS anymore (I was the first person to register in the entire state of Michigan the morning it finally opened to Michigan residents in June of last year). That last sentence could open up a whole debate, IMO. HiRAD doesn't report correct sky CC to me, but that's just me.

I'm thinking about moving to Milwaukee, WI.
Are you seriously considering moving, or is this just dreaming of living there?
