TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Comcast Sucks.
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:28:04 PM »
* jtmal0723 screams: "I now have The Weather Channel in High Definition, as of today! Channel 815!"
lol how do you think I felt last February? I got that HD box (which I still use) to finally see the channel last February, after realizing that the HD channels had been in our package since October '09 :P

Got our three DTAs in the mail today. They're setup and ready for Comcast to shut off analog.
When we ordered ours back in November 2009, I was really surprised that we got two digital cable boxes instead of the little adapters. I'm also surprised we got away with that for as long as we did.

But Comcast is ridiculous with their charges. Back in February, all I had to do was exchange one of our digital cable boxes for a new HD box. Since we had two adapters, that wasn't a problem.
Then come July, Comcast sends us a letter notifying us we were not paying enough. Then in November when we got two new HDTVs, I was told over the phone that all we had to do was bring in the SD boxes in exchange for the HD boxes with no additional charges on the bill.

I have been told all along that the HD boxes are only $7.95 a month/piece, as are the SD boxes. We get to the office and are told the HD boxes are $8.95/month... and we were only being charged $3.95 for one of the boxes we had.

Then we apparently lost our HD service just before Christmas (even though the channels were working on two of our 3 HD boxes)... and got more added on to our bill to continue it. Gotta love Comcast!

I saw a promo for TWC Prime Time. I think it could be part of the schedule changes.
I am so confused about what this whole thing means.

I've been checking my guide (since one of the perks of these HD boxes is that the guide goes out two weeks), and I don't see anything different  :dunno:

Is it just me or does the font used on the lower thirds seem a little more faint than usual?

Well, no school here today due to a 1/10" glaze on the roads, below a dusting of snow. That's all you need to close school up for the whole day. Only 1 "snow day" left until we have to go longer this summer...., and I haven't even seen any good snowstorms yet this season. :/
Wow, your school district has used up that many? We've had one day off so far this season in Haslett (December 13th). I think the state (not completely sure how it works) allows 30 hours per year, which translates into 4 days and one two hour delay (not quite a fifth day).

Sorry for the bump, but time is moving by fast. I just can't believe I turn 18 this year

Right now, I drive my dad's '04 Chevy Impala and sometimes my mom's '04 Subaru Forester. I'm hoping to get a car this year (in which case I would get a Honda Civic), but first I gotta find a more substantial job

Basically everyone who does not live near the edge of the state (Alpena, Port Huron, south Detroit, and Grand Rapids down to Benton Harbor) or in the UP has these sites:

Winter:
Gaylord, MI
Orlando, FL
Frankenmuth, MI

Summer:
Sandusky, OH
Mackinac Island, MI
Frankenmuth, MI

Prior to 2008, Toronto was on the Getaway. It was then replaced with Frankenmuth. South Detroit and Port Huron still have it though.

verizon has horrible coverage in texas, apparently.
Total opposite up here. AT&T sucks and the majority of people have VZ.
Same situation here. AT&T is horrible in this area
Same here. Just about everyone I know has it.

Tyler- lake effect snow is very interesting.  I would love to go somewhere around the Great Lakes and experience it.
It definitely is amazing, that's for sure. I will never forget the night I went down to South Haven on New Year's Day last year. In the morning of the next day, the snow had ended in South Haven itself, but I met a near blizzard (literally) when I got down to the lighthouse. My dad and I also ran into zero visibility on the way back up I-196 (with one lane of slow traffic), but it was completely sunny when we got to Grand Rapids.
If only there was a section of meteorology devoted specifically to lake effect snow :P

Speaking of that, I've been getting some great driving experience in snow lately (and ice yesterday). On just a 9 mile stretch of Interstate 69 before getting off south of Owosso last Tuesday, I got passed by three semis and tons of cars on the snow covered interstate. Forgive me for being safe on the freeway, lol
