General Discussion / Re: The Front Porch
« on: June 09, 2009, 04:05:47 PM »
I really want a 100+ degree temp!
I only experienced 100+ degree temps once in August 2006 when I was actually in Imperial County, CA (Yes Ana, I drove by Duck Centro on I-8 while on my way to the L.A. area) and it wasn't all that bad. Our Uplander (which we no longer have) said it was 107 when we stopped at a rest stop just past Yuma, and then I saw my first deserts ever!

You should have stopped by and said hi!!!
Sorry, it was about a year and a half before I even got started on youtube  :hmm:
Don't worry, I would have had I know you then

I remember August 2006 was the hottest August in my record. 2007 reached 121 degrees when I was a senior at Brawley High. Since now the temps are pretty much cooler than expected...I expect this summer to be cooler than average.  :noexpression:
Well, sunspot activity is at a minimum this year, so no one can expect any real major or widespread heat waves this summer.  <_< Ask Patrick if you have any more questions about this, as he is much more on top of it.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

What's this? TWC is actually playing "Colortones", a daytime song, at 3:59. What happened to primetime music?

I would say 2000-2003 then 2005-Sept 2008. Then things went down the toilet.  <_<
I agreed, but it's went downhill when NBCU brought it last November.
NBCU bought TWC from Landmark in July, on the 6th I believe. Nevertheless, I agree too, that they have gone down the toilets, exponentially it seems.

Source?
I looked over a video of Mike's with "Restless Heart" and compared it to my video of that song from June '08. On both videos, I saw one of those stupid ads to buy the song.

I live in the weirdest weather state EVER. 84 degrees one day,63 the next. *sigh*.
Nah, I think Michigan holds that partcular honor. I must admit that HiRAD would be necessary here due to lots of local demographics, if only it were a legit piece of technolicrap. The lakes make for some interesting weather here, at least if you live close enough to them.

I hate 100+ degree temps...they bother me.
:rofl2: :rofl2:

I hate to be rude, but IMO there's too much "junk" on the screen while watching live TWC now. I didn't realize the blue bar at the bottom that shows conditions for certain places or explains stuff was always going to be present. In addition, if you watch TWC in HD, there's that darn LDA on the side too. I guess it may be helpful to some people, but the blue bar and LDA are very distracting.
Oh no worries, you are not being rude to anyone at all. In fact, I too agree with you. While I like how the Blue LDL integrates all that information together, I am just fine with the SD daze and the black bar. I am glad I don't get the LDA, and the Blue Bar is WAY too much for me.

Here are some more pics of stoplights in the area.

Picture 1: There are only a few of these in the area, and all of them are on either side of the city (western side of Lansing, Okemos- where this pic was taken, Haslett) 8

Picture 2: Only a couple of these exist that I know of, that have yellow and not black casing. 13

Picture 3: Another stoplight right at US-127, just north of the major cloverleaf intersection with I-96. 17

Picture 4: Another stoplight on Pennsylvania Avenue just 3 miles down the road from my house. 20

Here are some more pics of stoplights in Howell going down M-59:
Picture 5: This stoplight has only been around for a couple years, as this intersection was heavily under construction in 2006-2008. This intersection is immediatly north of I-96. 41

Pictures 6-7: Here is an interesting stoplight. Notice the one on the right, and the appearance of the light. Only one of these exists in the Lansing area. 44, 48

Picture 8: Another one-way stoplight, on the north side of the Howell area 46

Pictures 9-10: This type of stoplight has been placed at several intersections of late in the Lansing area, mainly on the east side. 54 and 55

Picture 11: Another stoplight east of Howell. 58

Picture 12: This stoplight is at the US-23/M-59 Intersection a few miles up from Detroit itself. This is evidently a normally busy intersection. 62

Pictures 13-14: I thought this stoplight literally mounted "on" US-23 was a bit interesting. 64 67 79 81 83

Here's "Guyute" by Phish.

Okay, yeah, I have been looking for the wrong song all this time. So, it turns out that not one of my wanted songs is on the playlist.
I already replaced it with "It's For You" by Pat Metheny.

I would love a chance to live in a place where I can see a tornado. The excitement I get that comes with scary weather like tornadoes is one of the best feelings in the world IMO.
My opinion too, I agree with that. I have come close to seeing a tornado, back in May '05, and believe me, I will never forget it!

I want a tornado :(
LOL so do I, NJ isn't the best state for tornado action though.
Neither is Michigan, trust me.

I want those storms.  <_<
Well, while it is exciting, I am still not getting the worst of storms. Weather is not all that much more exciting in my corner of the state, Ana.
I found out that I missed a tornado warning by being two counties to the south. <_<
Wow. I don't think I've ever known someone who wants a tornado. :ermm: Severe storms are exciting, but tornadoes would be a little bit much for me.
Well, I am sure I have made my two strongest opinions clear: I HATE HiRAD and I LOVE extreme weather. I have always wanted to see a tornado in person, but at this point, I just want to capture the Tornado Warning crawl since I now have a TV tuner.

Yep Trance Fury - Carolina Shores on the overnight

Hmm, I haven't heard this one yet. Must be an overnight song.

How about this song?
