Do we have ANYONE recording a legacy STAR?? It seems like nearly everyone is doing the directv LF... :/

I sure wish I could, but I am not able to record the XL like I had hoped. I hope we can do this project again this summer so I can get a chance to record an XL.

Yeah, I haven't heard "Colortones" by Ryan Farish, "Advanced Funk" by Maceo Parker, or "Distance to the Sun" by Gooding in a long time. 

I heard Colortones earlier this morning.

That seems to be the song of the day getting overused.

My question is: Why would they implement the new channels if they are met with basically all negative responses?

Well, my guess is that it is the same reason TWC made all the changes to Intellistar and NBC made all the changes to TWC that they did:
They like it, and they can get away with it since there is nothing anyone can do about it except complain.
