General Discussion / Re: 4 Day School Weeks- Good or bad idea?
« on: June 09, 2010, 05:26:40 PM »
I'd have to say I'm on the fence with this one. It has been rumored and talked about from time to time through Haslett as far as I've known. I like the 3 day weekend idea, but gosh, silly me, I don't think the saving money concept would really be that effective. Cost-cutting measures keep getting implemented, and it continues to get worse. This year 5 teachers or staff members may be laid off, next year 15 or more. It's like in a drought situation... limiting water usage or issuing bans on it don't help the situation or make it better at all... they only make it harder to deal with. Sure this idea may help now, but it is nowhere near the save all solution for balancing budgets. More will still happen in the future.

Programming and Graphics / Re: New HD LDL?
« on: June 09, 2010, 05:17:40 PM »
I really need to start watching channel 245 again. Always leave my tuner on channel 36, by force of habit :P

What times have people seen the new LDL? I need to see it on my tuner (no HDTVs in the house). As for the ad, it sounds like a mistake to me too, but again, I haven't watched TWC [HD] much lately.

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: Finally!
« on: June 09, 2010, 05:14:43 PM »
Yeah, I've called about it before and it was apparently pulled from the Lansing area, from what I have been told. I know TWC HD is obviously available here in Lansing (as I have posted videos of it), but I'm not 100% sure about Haslett and the E.L. I'll ask about it when I call about getting some DTAs this week or weekend.

So I was watching Cold Case on TNT, and this popped up:

Not too crazy about it, but I knew it was going to happen here in the E.L. and Haslett this year. All channels are already digital (and thus require a cable box for all TVs and TV tuners) in Lansing.

I'm so lost writing my first on-air segment script  :thrilled:

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion

Looks to me like that issue was addressed.

On another note, not that it's a huge deal, one of my teachers' dad lives up in Traverse City, on the opposite corner to where I found that XL. I asked her to send some snapshots of each of the STARs to him, asking which one he sees. According to his response, that same XL I found serves the entire city. I still don't think even the winter (permanent) population is low enough to allow an XL to serve that area. I understand it does not directly correlate with population or demographics, but this is pushing limits.

Apparently I have yet another Flood Advisory for the Sycamore Creek, the gauge on which is right there at US-127 east of Holt. This time though I have two... and have had at least a dozen this year

Sounds like an assumption to me that a switch of companies means a switch of STAR units. Until someone visits the area and actually gets video, no one knows for sure.

IMO, AT&T has a lot of work to do period. Their advertisements are really not that good, and the company seems to have become a hollow shell of what it was when it actually provided cable service (way back when, in the early XL daze).

Anyone ever see everything on the Almanac on the IntelliStar totally missing?

I've seen the layer not fading in underneath the information several times, but I have not seen what you're showing in the picture

Depends on what kind of chips they are. Most often I would say iPods.

isohunt (bit torrent file downloads) or limewire?

Something is telling me it will be Thursday when it changes.
That'd be a good birthday present :P
But no, I'm starting to lose optimism with anything TWC.

Banned for I wish that TWC would alternate Ryan Farish's new songs on each list with his classic works, instead of just promoting his new "Bloom" album.
