Well for obvious reasons to the administrators here, I'm a bit late on this. Here is my Petoskey clip for the project. Since it never works to update the post with a file, I'll make another post momentarily with my Lansing submission and then my East Lansing submission.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

So this week TWC is celebrating "Celebrate" week.....

I don't get it.
I think it's somewhat like a combination of "Why I love Winter Week" and "Getaway Week" (which was in May). From what I understand, it is celebrating the winter season that is upon us. They air ads throughout the hour and are now showing LF intros with some information.

Hmm... The forums were down since midnight and came back an hour or so ago... Everything else, including the site, were working fine... I wonder what happened...
Yeah, it also happened Saturday morning. At first, I thought it was a connection issue on my part (since I once again had router troubles on Sunday morning).

I'm really having a lot of trouble holding myself back here...

As per the NWS office in Grand Rapids, MI:
Quote
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

A RISK FOR ACCUMULATING SNOW EXISTS FOR SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN
WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY AS A STORM TRACKS FROM TEXAS THROUGH
OHIO. UNCERTAINTY EXISTS WITH THE TRACK...STRENGTH AND
PRECIPITATION TYPE WITH THIS STORM...WHICH WILL NEED TO BE MONITORED
CLOSELY AS THE STORM EVOLVES.

NWS in Detroit/Pontiac, MI
Quote
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

ACCUMULATING SNOW IS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY EVENING/NIGHT INTO THURSDAY
MORNING AS A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKS NORTHEAST FROM THE WESTERN
GULF COAST STATES...REMAINING WEST OF THE APPALACHIANS.
UNFORTUNATELY...THE EXACT TRACK AND STRENGTH OF THE LOW REMAINS IN
QUESTION...AS A FARTHER WEST TRACK NEAR SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN COULD
RESULT IN A MOSTLY RAIN EVENT...ESPECIALLY FOR THE DETROIT METRO
AREA. STAY TUNED FOR FURTHER UPDATES AND REVISIONS TO THE FORECAST.

And finally, the NWS in Northern Indiana:
Quote
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

A SIGNIFICANT LATE FALL STORM IS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE REGION
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. MUCH UNCERTAINTY
EXISTS WITH REGARDS TO THE EVOLUTION OF THIS SYSTEM AS IT MOVES
FROM THE GULF COAST EARLY WEDNESDAY NORTHEAST TO NEW ENGLAND BY
THURSDAY. WHILE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AS RAIN LATE
WEDNESDAY...A CHANGEOVER TO SNOW IS POSSIBLE IN SOME AREAS
WEDNESDAY NIGHT. IT IS TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE WHETHER ACCUMULATING
SNOWS WILL OCCUR. PLEASE STAY TUNED TO LATER UPDATES ON THIS
POTENTIAL STORM.

MUCH MORE CERTAIN IS THAT MUCH COLDER AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE
REGION BEHIND THIS STORM FOR THURSDAY AND FRIDAY WITH HIGHS LIKELY
REMAINING IN THE 30S...WELL BELOW NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR.

All appear to be showing consistency in that there is likely to be a massive storm that will have some impact on us, and regardless of what precip or how much precip falls during the wrath of the storm here, there will be some cold air that is finally below average being ushered in behind the system.

But that is where the consistency stops.

Obviously, there is a good likelihood for snow. But there is over 2 daze from now up until this onset of the event. One issue that I am also looking at (which is influencing my thoughts on this) is that we have had two other storms, right at this exact time of year (immediate end of November, immediate beginning of December) both in 2006 and last year as well. BOTH appeared as though they were going to be major impacts to the area. BOTH were changed at the literal last minute, and things went downhill from there.

So at this point, I am abstaining from telling people the possibility is there until I see more consistency with the ingredients. I have to see the system formed and heading this way before I am convinced we could see something. It's frustrating though, being the person everyone asks about the weather at school.

General Discussion / Re: The Pot Belly Stove

Hey guys, I have a question -- i didn't think it was too serious enough for me to make a new topic

anyway, I got my HP Pavilion laptop this summer -- and right from the start it became apparent to me that sometimes when i'd put the computer into "sleep mode" it would freeze, and refuse to boot back up again. the computer itself will turn on, but nothing will come up on the screen -- so i would have to force shut down and restart the computer (i still have to do this sometimes, but not as often)

i thought maybe upgrading to windows 7 would help fix the issue, however it did not. anyone know why this happens?
I had similar issues when I got my first new computer (coincidentally also an HP), and they found bad ram. I would say take a look at some of the hardware, and make sure your computer doesn't have a large accumulation of dust in it.

So i went to Arby's, got my usual Beef and Cheddar sandwich, and by the time I was finished eating they were out of roast beef.
Wow, odd coincidence

I hate to change the subject here, but I'm in sort of a rut now. Those of you who have watched the clips I posted from Port Huron (had to go there a second time with my desktop since my laptop did not work the first time), may have noticed the horrible static in most of them. I now suspect this is because this headend has gone digital. When I was there Tuesday nite, some of the channels on the TV were blue with a message mentioning the digital transition. When I managed to get one recording then, it was also staticy, but I thought it was issue with the audio on my laptop. I then noticed the same static on the TV, and noticed it in my recordings the second time.

So long reply short, this could turn to be a problem with my recordings of 22842 and when I travel elsewhere. If I were to obtain an additional DTA from Comcast, would this work on other headends, especially non-Comcast headends? I have no idea what to do here.

The Conshohocken Curve rarely gets accidents.
It did not take me long at all to comprehend that name and try to pronounce it :P

I'm looking at a storm that both TWC and NWS seem to agree will form next week. Looks widespread. I also have highs below freezing from Thursday through Saturday, and we have only had one high below 40 thus far this season... Black Friday.

Local Forecast / Re: November 2009 Playlist in effect
« on: November 29, 2009, 02:17:30 PM »
Here is the playlist. Nice to see Frank Josephs and Jim Lum back! I've been wanting to get a clip of TSOP too!
Hmm, Mike, can you reattach a file of the playlist? That one isn't working, and for whatever reason, I can't find the copy I had on my laptop.

Does anyone have a clip of Lookin Good by Ursula Suzana Pacheco from the morning list? It seems that I'm hearing the same songs over and over again in the morning list.
I'm sure I have it, but I have no idea what it sounds like, so I'm not sure I could trim a clip of it.
It has a lot of piano and guitar. It's the one of the two morning songs i'm missing.
Sure, I'll look for it if you would like me to :)

Because the music randomizer knows us, and already hates us :P

Has the weather this November been quite boring and unchanged here?

Since noone has mentioned....how was everyone's Thanksgiving? Mine was alright. My girlfriend and a few family friends came over and we had a nice, juicy turkey along with herb stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes. The weather could've been better though..:/
Yeah, it could have been nicer here too. Was expecting 1-2 inches that nite, and came back to find that taken out of the forecast  <_<   Anyway, met some family from their side, and was there for a few hours. All that was good, really, was the turkey. I'm not a pie person :P
