OMG, I'm screwed. The portable HD I bought for my laptop, where I moved the videos I recorded in about a dozen locations, is not readable. Any ideas on what I can do?

That's actually on my desktop, where I saved fewer of your videos than I did on my laptop. All my laptop's videos were moved onto the portable hard drive, which neither computer can read. But yeah, I still have some of your videos

Well, the past few years, I've sort of been "saved". In 2007, I barely eeked out an inch of lake effect the nite before to technically have a white christmas that year. Last year, we had a big snow about a week before, and it didn't start melting until the next day. The last time I remember an appreciable snow right at Christmas was in 2002, but even then, it warmed up to 40 that day. But judging how this winter is going and is expected to be going, even my outlook for a white christmas is looking dismal.

Keep in mind, the official definition for a white christmas is to have at least an inch of snow on the ground at 7 AM that morning.
