Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion
« on: December 17, 2009, 04:46:55 PM »
You know, I was wondering a couple things:
In the picture I am attaching of my metro map (here in Lansing), what is that icon used for Grand Rapids? I've seen that icon several times, and can't figure out what it is. I know it is not Wintry Mix.

Also, are HiRAD guesses gathered for the actual location for a city, or just for where the city is placed on the map? If that's the case, then data is being gathered for Clare in the Bay City map I attached. Mt Pleasant should be where the circle is.

Also, does anyone have a clip of an LF with no music (but with narration) that I could use? I'm working on a project with the narration over break, and would really appreciate it
I know I have a couple laying around, I'll look for them when I get to my computer.
Thanks :)
I can easily get the radar, week ahead, and traffic phrases, but everything else is a bit difficult.

<3 the story of the Christmas Tree Ship. I want to see it again.
Yeah, as sad as it was, it was sort of compelling to me. I am pretty sure the last time it aired was 1/2/04, so yes, it has been a while.
I believe it also aired in December 2004.
Yeah, maybe it was 05 that I was thinking of there. Nevertheless, I will be recording it to watch again.

Yeah, he fell out of the bed of his truck as his fiancee was driving. Sad to hear, indeed  :(

Like I said in the #5 submissions thread, I can participate at pretty much any time set, but since I am getting my laptop back on either Monday or Tuesday, I could probably swing participating via 3 locations for the project.

I'm getting my laptop back Monday or Tuesday (), so if we were to do it towards the middle or end of next week, I would most likely be able to swing recording the LF in 3 places for the project

Calm down Krishnan, I'm sorry to hear that. I can at least partially relate. Whenever something like that happens though, I would just go hang out with them.

Well, I always thought people would find it interesting that I post videos of multiple different units. I always find enjoyment in seeing all the different configurations, and seeing maps and whatnot from different angles. I've always thought I could compete with mwmnp25 when it comes to that, but oh well :P
I mean, recording from only one location is sort of boring, and it sort of comes back to what Patrick said, in that I upload a variety. I'm trying to cut back on Lansing recordings, and focus more on other units. But for some reason 22842 seems to be even less popular than 22840.

I tried to upload a couple commercials, i.e. the SunLife commercial about Florida and the latest Progressive commercial (where Flo says "Would you like one great big bag, or two still pretty big bags"?), but neither one really has done well, and I pulled the Progressive commercial right after I uploaded it.

Do people really care about seeing different units, or is that something I only get enjoyment out of?

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: TWC gone digital
« on: December 15, 2009, 07:55:21 PM »
It happened some time ago to most of the Comcast headends in Pittsburgh, with the exception of the former Adelphia headends. Luckily I don't have to worry about that, because we have Verizon.
Oh, so you don't have to worry about multiple cable boxes for everything (tuners and TVs)? I'm starting to think this is only a Comcast thing, as I haven't heard anyone with other providers mention anything. I'm wondering because I want to go into Charter territory more often, and I don't know if a Comcast box would work.

TWC and your Cable Company / TWC gone digital
« on: December 15, 2009, 06:38:03 PM »
Well, around 4:30 this morning, Comcast here in Lansing officially switched channels 25-64 (which includes TWC, at 36) over to the digital format. We are having to add an extra cable converter to our monthly bill so that I can record TWC with my tuner, but for now, I took the box from my mom's room (don't tell her  :bleh: ). Has TWC gone digital for anyone else?

Also, does anyone notice any difference between these two recordings?

EDIT: Files to come. Apparently my internet connection does not want to allow me to attach them here.
