General Discussion / Re: Chrome Startup Error
« on: January 22, 2011, 05:17:38 AM »
It's a good thing I don't believe in storing anything on my desktop's internal hard drive anymore then... not even documents and pictures. Just another reason to buy a new desktop, which I've been needing for almost two years now.

General Discussion / Chrome Startup Error
« on: January 21, 2011, 09:02:02 PM »
It's not too terribly significant since I'm always able to click cancel, but 2 times out of 3 when I open Chrome on my desktop, this pops up:

Any ideas what it means?

General Discussion / Re: Gas prices in your area
« on: January 21, 2011, 07:17:44 PM »
I'm not going to post a link to this as it's pointless (They made a "story" out of a few sentences), but those here in Michigan may find this interesting...

Quote
DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- The auto club said Monday the statewide average is 42 cents per gallon higher than last year at this time.

Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan says the cheapest price for self-serve regular fuel is in the Benton Harbor, Flint, Grand Rapids and Saginaw/Bay City areas, where it's $2.96 a gallon. The highest average can be found in the Marquette area at $3.08.

Dearborn-based AAA Michigan surveys 2,800 Michigan gas stations daily.

I'm not surprised about Flint and Saginaw/Bay City being on there. Mount Morris, on the north side of Flint, typically has the cheapest prices in the state. The highest? Beaver Island west of Petoskey in Lake Michigan... but that is pretty self explanatory. Right now however, the Soo has the highest prices.

As for the prices here, Speedway usually leads the way up, but the Speedway in Frandor (between Lansing and the E.L.) and two stations north of Haslett usually lead the way down ironically. Prices right now are about $3.05-$3.10.

Jim Cantore's narrations on the IS2 or Allen Jackson's narrations on the XL and Intellistar?

General Discussion / Re: Your class schedule...
« on: January 21, 2011, 02:10:58 PM »
For the first semester...

1st hour (7:50 to 8:46 AM): International Issues
2nd hour (8:51 to 9:47 AM): Academic Lab (An hour to do homework or make up tests)
3rd hour (9:52 to 10:48 AM): English 12
4th hour (10:53 to 11:49 AM): Physics
Lunch (11:49 AM to 12:26 PM)
5th hour (12:26 to 1:22 PM): FST-B (Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry). I'm taking the second half of the book
this year, as I took the first half last year with a teacher that ironically retired.
6th hour (1:27 to 2:23 PM): Vision Advanced Class (this is the class that I take to do the announcements)

Next semester, the schedule is changing around for the morning because Int'l Issues is only a semester long class. Next semester, it will look like this:
1st hour (7:50 to 8:46 AM): Psychology
2nd hour (8:51 to 9:47 AM): English 12
3rd hour (9:52 to 10:48 AM): Academic Lab
4th hour (10:53 to 11:49 AM): Physics
Lunch (11:49 AM to 12:26 PM)
5th hour (12:26 to 1:22 PM): FST-B
6th hour (1:27 to 2:23 PM): Vision Advanced Class

Here's one of the Macs from the Vision studio. They all have the same background. Mr. Town, the teacher of the class, loves movies and directors like Quinton Tarantino and Alfred Hitchcock... so each of the computers is named after a director. This particular one is named "Spike".

Yeah, you guys don't really deserve it with all the snow you have had this and the previous winter

Because I only have 3 or 4, and Mother Nature has apparently decided that this winter is not supposed to make sense.

Have I most likely had TWC HD for almost two years now but didn't know it for half that time?

Local Forecast / Re: Weatherstar 4000 Locations that remain
« on: January 21, 2011, 01:51:24 PM »
I am surprised that nobody has found a Star 4000 for Wisconsin, yet. I know there might possibly be a few scattered around Green Bay and Appleton, in places like Pulaski, Seymour, or Oconto.
Oconto most likely sees 24808 out of Marinette and Menominee.

Because why waste your birthday on sleep when you can use that extra time to party!

Why does the ß symbol show up when ever I type alt-s on the Vision's Macs?

No, I flicked it away with my fingers this morning

Have we had the lowest season to date snowfall of any season in my lifetime?

I don't wish this winter could shape up in terms of snow for those of us in Michigan. The weather has not been bland for the past two months, with temps not between 10 and 30 most of the time.
