Wasn't Obama thinking about passing a law to make schools (K - 12) year-round, a couple of years ago? :dunno:  I could make the general argument that attending school year-round can put us up to the same level as other countries who will or already are surpassing us in the field of education, but really don't have much to back it up with.

Let's just say that DISD (Dallas Independent School District) is one of the worst in the metro area.

Rain for Dallas/Fort Worth today and tomorrow:  An upper-level low is bringing much-needed rainfall to not only the Metroplex, but also to a great portion of the state of Texas.  The data on the graphic below is effective as of 4:30 pm CST.  A break in the rain and even the clouds to reveal some sunshine has been persistent over the past hour, but more rainfall is expected later tonight into tomorrow afternoon.

More rainfall reports and an update on the drought will be posted later, once the rain maker has moved through.

That isnt her with the glasses I dont think

Guys, Ana is the one on the left in that picture (wearing the Foster the People t-shirt, as she mentioned).  Yes, she has glasses on her head, but I think those are sunglasses. ;)

Ha. I'm not even going to go with TWC's predicted high today of 54°F when it's already 56°F, I'm going with high in the low to mid 60's.
IMO, TWC isnt the greatest source to get weather forecasts from.. they hype rain chances and temperature values big time.

I feel exactly the same way.  TWC can brag as much as they want about being able to provide forecasts for all these US and international cities, but sometimes their information is far from accurate.

Thank you for mentioning that point, Martin.  I don't understand why people keep using this thread to see how we can help them get into Taiganet.  That is not the problem of any of the admins or members here. ;)

So much for that Arctic blast!  It's now 59°F and sunny.
Lol what arctic blast? Not one record low was broken.

Record lows do not have to be broken for a cold snap to be classifed as an arctic blast!

But anyway, I LOVE the weather today!

73°F Sunny/Windy

Just got back from New York City yesterday. It was super exciting to see the ball drop from Times Square. It's nice to be back home though!

Hope you had fun, Mr. TWCToday.  Guess it was time for a display-name change. :P

So glad I don't have to deal with this. :P

BTW, you Floridians who disliked the warm weather for Christmas, is this a good enough change for you?

Have any of you watched 2011: Weather by the Billions?  I'm curious to know how the background effects are being done when Jim is talking solo or conducting interviews.  Is he standing in front of the 3-D chroma key the entire time?  And what about the chairs for the interviews?  Are those on top of the 3-D chroma key?

Also, it's kind of funny to see how short Jim is compared to the other meteorologists.  Now I don't feel so bad about my height... :P
