Incredible!!  The ground here has turned white in a matter of 15 minutes! :o  It's dark outside, so it's hard to see how much is covered, but I do see the white stuff.

Definitely a healthy storm  though it beats me why TWC isnt preempting when they have preempted on weaker storms in the past... :whistling:

TWC's priorities are very screwed up these days. It's no surprise.

From my point of view (correct me if you think I am biased), TWC never highlights the "Deep South" (mainly Texas and Oklahoma) as much as they need to.  If this situation were happening in the southeast or northeast, I bet you they would pre-empt and have weather.com in "red" mode. <_<

San Angelo is currently reporting heavy snow, as of 1:45 pm CST.  And take a look at their 7-day: 76 degrees by Tuesday!  "If you don't like the weather now, just wait 5 minutes!" :P

As far as the winter weather forecast for OKC/Norman, I can not tell you how many times I have seen it change.  First, it was a slight chance of rain and snow on Sunday.  Then that quickly changed to most of the action happening Sunday night into Monday.  A chance of rain and snow changed to wintry mix, which has now finally changed to snow and sleet expected.  Accumulations should be very minimal.  There is a weather forecaster here who loves to exaggerate snow totals, saying we would get anywhere from 1 to 3 inches.  But I don't think that's going to happen.  Since temperatures will be hovering around the freezing mark, roadways (especially briges/overpasses) may become slick, but I don't think snowfall total is going to be impressive.  Did you know the ground is so warm I actually saw steam coming off of the concrete in a rain shower we had the other day?

BUT...
Welcome to the 900s in the PBS!  (that is, assuming you have the default setting of 15 pages per topic. :P)

It's always fun to reach another milestone.

Is Valentine's Day only for romantic love? Or can it be for any kind of love you have for your family and/or friends?

I wouldn't think so.  I always remember having Valentine's Day parties in elementary school.  It was a good time to show love for the teachers, since we obviously don't do that now. :P  Most of us were also not "in love" at that young age.

IntelliStar 2 Discussion / Re: First advisory scroll
« on: February 10, 2012, 04:32:49 PM »
Ah, so you think differently about this now that you have the IS2, Eric?  I remember a time when this "issue" with the advisory scroll wasn't so important to you (sorry, but I just had to call you out on it). :P

(from IntelliSTAR 2 Videos! thread)
Great videos, Mark! However, I notice a BIG problem: the warning crawl is covering up some of the information on the LDL.

Comparing the HD and SD warning crawls, I think the HD is far less intrusive.  As for "BIG problem," I think it qualifies as a minor inconvenience, not as a "BIG problem."  Do you expect them to invest the time, effort, and money to completely reformat the LDL for a warning crawl which appears a small fraction of the total amount of time the LDL is shown?

Local Forecast / Re: HD Local On 8's Now Satellite Version
« on: February 10, 2012, 02:09:22 PM »
Hey guys just a quick update. I have been a fan of weather and TWC for a long time lol. I know what the differences are :D Actually just now the IS2 is back on, however every screen is filled with "NO DATA". I assume they are working on it tho :) Thanks everyone for the feedback! I appreciate it :D

This "NO DATA" usually means the system is rebooting, and things should slowly be returning to normal soon.  Glad to see everything has been restored.

Navigation, especially when trying to post, is slow to extremely slow right now.  At least for me.

There are just some days when this forum runs really slowly, and unfortunately, I don't think there's much of an explanation to it.

What I don't understand is why you don't just stay logged in forever, so you don't have to deal with signing in and out every time you visit (unless you feel unsafe with doing this).

I always say that if you truly love someone, every day should be Valentine's Day.

Bingo!

I am really not a fan of Valentine's Day.  My heart has never been crushed (thank goodness), but as Matt said, if you are going to love someone, love them every day, not just on February 14th.

This thread was obviously created to let all of we singles complain about a love holiday. :P

Local Forecast / Re: HD Local On 8's Now Satellite Version
« on: February 08, 2012, 05:15:18 PM »
Are we sure that he's not just confused and didn't even have the IS2 in the first place?
Trevor has a point. Usually if people could tell the difference, based on my observations, they would identify the names as the STAR type in lieu of saying Local on the 8s here. If your headend doesnt have an i2HD hooked up, you should be seeing the national feed. If they do and it's been absent for an extended period of time, do make a topic in WxStar Support.  :)

Read the post carefully. ;)

I switched from satellite to cable for the sole reason of having the HD Local on the 8's. I have Atlantic Broadband. Well everything has been great and going smoothly then for the last few weeks the HD Local on 8's has been only the satellite national version while the standard definition 8's is still the local version. It's very frustrating. I called Atlantic Broadband and they said they could send someone out to my house to see if it's a problem on my end... I declined that offer knowing it's something on their end. Anyone else having this issue? Any advice how to get my REAL Local on 8's in HD back?

I was about to say something about to this matter, but then noticed that the wording looks like he had the IS2 and it disappeared suddenly.

37°F Cloudy

And this is frustrating.  Today's high was supposed to be 45°F, and it was supposed to be mostly sunny!  I know we've still got some time to go to reach the high, but this is like the second time in the past week where sunny skies have been predicted, and it has turned out to be cloudy! <_<
