Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

I say probable red LDL.

Has the LDL been red (I'm taking about yesterday, mainly)?  On SD, I saw no change, but it looked a lot darker like a red, or even black, color on HD.  Adrian also said yesterday that the LDL was in red mode.  It just didn't seem as noticeable to me this time.

Well, I have grandparents who live in Naples, FL (which is an hour south of Ft. Myers), so I go there every spring break.  I have also been to Disney World twice, the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Daytona Beach, and Destin.

Looks like the 90-second flavors started playing at :28 and :58 each hour as well during the Weekend Morning Hours.

So if these 90-second flavors are part of all weekend shows, DP, and WCL at :28/:58 now, when are they not used?  I thought someone said not all shows were like this.  I would have to guess YWT and WUWA by process of elimination. :P  (But that might not be right.)

In the U.S., I've visited 19 states.  I was debating or not whether to include Georgia because I was technically there but only passing through the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport.  My dad's rule for whether or not to include a state on your "visited" list is if you've spent money there.  I don't remember spending any money (even for food), so I have left it off. :P

BTW, you do see that Hawaii is shaded, but I don't remember it as I was only 6 months old at the time.  I'm still counting it but feel I need to see the western U.S. more.

My world travels are not too impressive.  Just U.S. (obviously), United Kingdom, and France.

Don't worry guys, I've reported the post to the mods.  I think the next time something like this happens, we can just ignore it.  He's obviously a spammer.  Too many more of these incidents, and we may see a discontinuation in guest posting.

Andy, you sure you arent colorblind? :P

But if you notice, nothing on graphics by TWC is of pure color..

EDIT: I did find this, which has the exact colors TWC uses

ALL I am trying to say is that purple should come before maroon on the AQI. :P  Just take a look at this link: http://www.epa.gov/apti/ozonehealth/aqi.html.

Whether the I-STAR has it right or not is another story I guess.  One color (it should be maroon) is left of off the screenshot you posted, Zach.

No, the order that Trevor said is correct  there is no purple on the AQ

Well, I mean, honestly, that looks kind of like purple to me.  According to all air quality color guides I have looked at, purple comes before maroon. ;)  Maroon is very rare and is often left off of most of the guides.  If the top color on the screenshot you posted is maroon, Zach, then TWC has it wrong.

I haven't had the STAR in awhile, so I may be incorrect, but it is to my knowledge that purple comes before maroon in air quality alerts.  Purple means "very unhealthy" and maroon means "hazardous."  Purple is not normally shown on the STAR unless it is needed, of course.  I think the worst level I have seen on a STAR is red.

Also, I believe a Weather Bulletin for an air pollution watch is shown for levels orange and above, not just for maroon. ;)  I am not sure if there is such as thing as a bulletin for an "air quality alert" though.  (I assume there is a difference.  To me, the alert is like a warning.)

I imagine we'll hear everything about Beryl for the next several days, but I hope it doesn't go overboard as Beryl is not expected to become more than a tropical storm.
This reminds me in 2006 how they went crazy over Beryl, and what was funny was that it formed around the same area as this year's Beryl.

Maybe they'll go into "Storm Alert" for Beryl like they did with Alberto/Ernesto in 2006.  After all, they are using the same name rotation this year. :P

I think TWC definitely "goes overboard" when a system is near the U.S. and makes landfall, even if it is a weak system.  This obviously makes sense, but I won't be surprised if we hear more about Beryl than other storms from last year, just because it looks like it will impact the U.S. this time (finally).

Hurricane Central / Re: Subtropical Storm Beryl

Out of curiosity, what is the most number of storms that have formed before the "official" start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season?  We're already at two this year. :P

731
Don't we have enough shows about "ice" already?  The addition of new long-form shows is bad enough, but it's even worse when the shows become repetitive.

732
Is there evidence (and can there be) that TWC has attracted a younger audience with the addition of more long-form and new programs that have nothing to do with weather?  I mean, I can see a 20-year-old watching something like Lifeguard! or Coast Guard Alaska, but certainly not a 70-year-old.  Heck, even my parents think TWC shows too much long-form.

It's only a matter of time before The Weather Channel becomes all long-form. Lets just enjoy the live broadcasts while they last.

Somehow I have faith that this will never be the case.  And I don't know if you mean regularly or "permanently."  We obviously know that TWC pre-empts and goes nuts during hurricane season and some severe weather events, because this makes the ratings soar.

On Xfinity, I've noticed that the SD and HD feeds of some of the channels I watch are not in sync. The HD feed would be ahead of the SD feed, like on Univisión, or it would be the other way around, like on TWC. I'm curious as to why this happens.

I'm pretty sure this happens on all cable/satellite providers.  For me, any HD channel always seems to lag a few seconds behind any SD channel.  I am not sure why, although there may be some discussion about it in the WUWA thread?

Thanks Zach, that clears things up!  All I am saying is that I think the 5-day forecast is important, so I am not a fan of the 1:30 flavor.  (But I know it's going to sound pretty strange if I say I prefer a 1-minute flavor over a 1:30 one. :fear:)

Wow, this must officially be the end of the 2 minute flavors then. 2 minutes has always been the longest amount of time possible for the LFs since J flavours were discontinued in the late 90's.

IMO, this shouldn't be the case.  Now the National Feed no longer shows the city-by-city 5 day forecast (3-day on SD), which leads to a greater lack of information.  Bad move.
Not too sure on the SD feed, but the 5-day forecast is shown on 1:00 LFs on the HD feed

Well, that's strange.  Because they're not shown on the 1:30 flavors on HD.  They show the region-by-region radar and single day forecast, then the national thunderstorm map and precip map or severe weather warnings if any are in effect.  No city-by-city 5-day is shown.
