i know this has been bounced around a couple times but wouldn't it make sense (if they're changing the programming) to just use instrumental music even if it's not smooth jazz instead of vocals?

Why does this keep coming up?  As Patrick said, vocal music doesn't really relate to the programming.  Furthermore, we've mentioned countless times how viewers appreciate the change in music.  I don't think vocal music is going anywhere anytime soon. ;)

Programming and Graphics / Re: Morning & Dayside revamp
« on: October 23, 2012, 07:39:29 PM »
Summary:
First Forecast - 4-5 AM ET
On The Radar - 5-5:30 AM ET
Wake Up With Al - 5:30-6 AM ET
Morning Rush - 7-9 AM ET

Hopefully, Morning Rush is a name change for Your Weather Today, otherwise, it looks as if we could be loosing Your Weather Today.

The article above didn't mention end times, but I wonder if WUWA will now be running an hour-and-a-half?  Because, in your schedule above Trevor, you have nothing from 6 AM - 7 AM.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: 2012 Layoffs
« on: October 21, 2012, 09:17:32 PM »
Heather is one of my favorite OCMs, but when I've watched her lately, she seems to stutter and be a little less "energetic" than she used to be.  Maybe she is reaching her final days on the station and doesn't really "care" anymore (though I highly doubt that), but if her position is currently safe, then I hope TWC doesn't frown too much on her actions.

Well, I'm sure most of you probably know about this already since it's been all over the news, but it was a sad day for Texans today as the 60-year-old "Big Tex" icon at the State Fair of Texas burned down this morning.  The most probable cause was faulty wiring, as his mouth and arms move when he delivers his classic "Howdy folks, and welcome to the State Fair of Texas" speech.

I'm kind of mad at the city of Dallas, not only at the fire department for taking (what seems to me) too long to arrive but also no police or security telling people to back up from the flames (well I guess they do at the very end of the video, but still).  You never know what fires can do, and I think some of those fair-goers were a little too close for comfort.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: 2012 Layoffs

I guess these layoffs come in stages, but did TWC get hit hard money-wise recently?  Because the fact that, all of a sudden, they are now not only getting rid of OCMs but also behind-the-scenes people is very suspicious.  I wouldn't think replacing behind-the-scenes workers would really affect their ratings, unless they thought some of their graphics were horrible or whatever, so it seems like TWC is trying to get rid of as many veteran workers as possible so they don't lose as much money.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: October 13, 2012, 12:06:02 AM »
Has anyone seen TWC's new interactive weather map on weather.com? I like it! It provides a lot more options than the old boring one. I'm not sure about the water temperature map, don't think it's that accurate.

I don't like it.  It loads very slowly for me, and like everything else on their site, there's too much junk/clutter on the screen.  Maybe it will just some time getting used to...

EDIT: One thing I do notice, however, is that there seems to be additional colors for stronger storms that most radars use.  For example, with the storms currently over northwestern Texas, I don't remember them using that many shades of pink before on their old maps.  So I like that new upgrade.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: So Long Adam Berg

No!!!  Darn it!!!  Adam was one of my favorite OCMs to watch.

Honestly, if this is part of the next string of lay-offs, then I am surprised, because to me, he still seems to be part of the "young" crowd they are looking for.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Jeff Morrow leaves TWC
« on: October 05, 2012, 07:19:44 PM »
Well, for one, we don't know the entire story, so until we do, it isn't very smart to be pointing fingers right now.
In other words, we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions?

Yes.  Please don't make me want to lock this topic.  I do not want this turning into yet another "NBC is evil, NBC has ruined TWC!" kind of thread. :club:

This is indeed very sad to hear, especially since Jeff was definitely a familiar face out in powerful storms during Hurricane Season, but I do wish him the best elsewhere.

Ha!  We were talking about this in my meteorology class today.  I also saw the article and video on weather.com this morning.  Apparently this has "blown up" into a big discussion and debate.

The biggest problem we talked about is consistency.  For what may be the first time (I'm not sure), a private sector is doing something the NWS isn't.  So the question is: will NWS follow TWC in naming the storms?  If so, what a change this will be.  If not, then even more confusion will arise because if TWC is talking about, say, Caesar, and NWS is talking about "this major snowstorm," how will people know if they're the same storm, a different storm, etc?

Criteria based on the naming is also a big question in my mind, as well.  I guess we'll just have to see how it all plays out this winter...

Seriously weather.com?  Are you kidding me?

I've heard of a "freeze" before but never a "feeze."

You're a little late...I'd watch yourself if I were you, bumping topics is looked down at on this forum.

Yes, which I see you also did in the "News and Updates" board in the WeatherScan XL Project forum.  FYI, bumping a year-old topic just to say something is a "cool idea" really is necessary.

I appreciate the congratulations here, but I would look at the forum rules (again) if I were you, as you have been violating quite a few recently. :hammer:

Why am I getting Malware warnings for this forum? :dunno:
I'm getting them too.
So have I

Hmm...I'm not seeing anything.  What kind of "warnings" are you getting?

Emulator Videos / Re: About the emulator...
« on: September 15, 2012, 12:23:10 PM »
Wyatt, first of all, this particular board is for posting emulator videos only, NOT asking questions about an emulator.

If you want to know more about the WeatherScan XL Emulator Project that cc17926 is in charge of, go the "WeatherScan XL Emulator Project" boards below, and ask a question in "Help and Support."  However, do not be so demanding, or you won't get an answer at all.

I'm locking this topic. :lock:
