An excellent visual graphic of the strong arctic front that is pushing its way across Oklahoma.

TWC has named its third winter storm.  "Caesar" is the one striking the Upper Midwest.

13° Light Snow/Fog/Mist

Wind Chill: -4°

Tomorrow will be one of the most brutal winter day of the semester. I've attached the forecast for Grand Forks right up to the time I leave for nice and warm South Carolina below. And no, I did not edit those temperatures.  :brr:

Well Mac, you've been saying you wanted winter to come, so there you go. :P

We're getting an ugly taste of winter here in Norman, too.  Currently, it's 45°F with overcast, and breezy.

Slight chance of snow after midnight tonight; tomorrow's high will be a chilly 39°F. :brr:  (Which is considered cold by those who live in the south!)

Ahh!!! YouTube!  Every time we get used to a new theme, you have to go and change it again.

There's a slight chance for rain and snow down here Sunday night.  Originally the models had blizzard-like conditions for us next week; I don't think (and certainly hope) that's not going to happen, as I have finals next week.  And supposedly, if the campus is closed during finals week and we can't take them, then we would have to take them after Christmas break.  Yikes!

Mac, too bad our five consecutive days of 70+ degree temps didn't make it up your way.  If only I could send you the 60s we're enjoying now.  I know it's December and almost winter, but I'm not looking forward to the forecasted high of 41 degrees come Monday.  (Yes, I know that's probably a warm front to some of you, but I'm from the south! :P )

The pattern right now is very similar to last year around the same time, which is probably very frustrating for those of you on the East Coast, who are getting slightly warmer temperatures and mild ridging over your area. The colder air continues to remain to the north and west - and even then, it's not as cold as it should be. Hopefully the pattern will change later in the season, but for many of us winter is off to a disappointing start.  :club:

Well, winter hasn't officially started yet...that's not for a couple more weeks. :P  But, oh my gosh, I just remembered: the world will be ending then! :o  Shoot!  Well, I guess we won't get a true winter after all...

Talk about unseasonably warm!  These have been the high temperatures for the past five days, recorded at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.  Two records have even been noted.

It's the 70°-plus club!  For the past five days, temperature across the OKC metro have been far above average for late-November and early-December.  So it's certainly hard to get into that Christmas spirit.  Here is the log of the high temperatures, recorded at Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport, for the past five days.  Note the records set on two of the days.

That looks horrible!  The icons also make me sick.  Amazing how TWC seems to have these bright, animated apps for Apple products and then turn around and provide this piece of crap for Windows.  Perhaps it's Windows' fault for not wanting the nicer apps that TWC can provide?

Though I don't have Windows 8 (I might be getting it if I buy a new computer), some of the screenshots I've seen of it just make it look a whole bunch "simpler" and more dull, as in the way things are laid out or written, etc.  Is this the direction being taken with technology these days?

I am also thinking about getting a new laptop (PC) for Christmas this year.  Any recommendations?  This is probably going to narrow down the list a lot (perhaps too much for you all), but I would like to stay away from Dell and HP, as I have had serious problems with those makes in the past.

General Discussion / Re: Matt Lauer Out? Al Roker becoming Today host?
« on: November 22, 2012, 11:16:34 PM »
For some reason, I didn't realize Al Roker had so much power (but I don't watch The Today Show, and don't know much about NBC employee ranks , so maybe he always has).  Anyway, Matt sometimes got on my nerves, but I think Al would be worse.  If only they could bring in a new (real) weatherman and just make Al Roker the second host.  I know it'll never happen, but it's worth a mention...
