BLIZZARD CONDITIONS are possible with this next winter storm system taking aim at the Rockies and Plains.  I feel it's not everyday you see blizzard warnings in parts of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. :P

Your Local Weather / Re: Oklahoma City weather

For the past couple of weeks, two winter storms which have moved through the area have brought measurable snowfall.  Northern Oklahoma has been impacted the most, but accumulating snowfall did make its way as far south as Oklahoma City.  (Unfortunately, snowfall rates in both storms at the southern edge of the OKC metro were not heavy enough, leading to melting of any accumulating snowfall rapidly after it fell.)

The totals you see in the graphic are valid for Oklahoma City's Will Rogers World Airport.

I wish it was where the forum members' current weather conditions where they lived could be put back on the members' posts.

If you are referring to this forum, the issue has already been brought up in the past, and there's currently nothing we can do about it.  I encourage you to look at this topic.

32F Wintry mix

It was snowing heavily earlier, but unfortunately what's on the ground will probably melt soon.  I am more concerned about any ice we may see, especially if the temperate remains at or below freezing.

Sorry for double-posting, but there was a 60-second flavor at :28  :o  I think WCL may be the new WUWA   :P

So wait a minute: TWC is only showing 60-second LFs now?

Whatever happened to the days when the "LOT8s was the number 1 reason why people tune in to The Weather Channel?"  Jim Cantore said that quote in a video; I think it was the one talking about the IS transition to HD.  Guess that's all gone out the window. :(

Winter Storm Q: Oh how can I take this one seriously? :P

BTW, is this the farthest west that TWC has ever named a winter storm?  All these systems come from the west, but it seems like TWC doesn't get around to naming them until they reach the middle of the country.  Perhaps this storm will have bigger than usual impacts in the west.

(I still don't understand TWC's criteria for naming winter storms.)

71°F Sunny

I think it's accurate to say that we're warmer than all of Florida right now.

OK, am I looking at this right?  It's supposed to be warmer here than in Miami or Key West, FL on Sunday?!?!

Our forecasted high is 66°F for Sunday.  Miami's is 62°F.  Key West's is 61°F.  This is according to the NWS.

Hey Mac, I put your post from the PBS into its own topic, as I think this is something pretty big to talk about.

Yeah, I honestly thought I was dreaming at first when I saw this on the news.  And this has no relation to the asteroid that will be coming close to Earth later this afternoon?  That's just too much of a coincidence; in fact, at first I thought it was the asteroid they were talking about.  Wouldn't that be an unfortunate "forecast bust."

Unfortunately, I'm seeing reports that the injured count is currently up to 1,100.

Yikes!  I think I just threw up a little.  I hope TWC doesn't make all their graphics look like this.

They sure do seen to like angled maps and flares a lot.

I'm sorry, but The Weather Channel is disgusting me right now.  Can anyone give me a reason as to why this winter storm is not named yet?  I know I'm still hesitant on the idea in the first place, but they've named every other trace of snow out there, so why not this?

TWC's bias in focusing on the Northeast is painfully obvious today.  The storm won't hit there until tomorrow night!  Why not focus on the present first?!

41°F Overcast

WINTER STORM WATCH in effect 7 AM Tuesday through evening.  I keep seeing different snowfall total forecasts for the area, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
