Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: June 03, 2013, 12:02:37 AM »
TWC has ended their live coverage as of 11 PM EDT.  Not really sure why they sent Chris to Albany as it looks like not a lot happened there.  Guess they were expecting a little more action, but at least that means he wasn't in the studio interrupting anyone.

There were tornado evacuees on the highways along with the chasers.  For some reason, some residents thought it was a good idea to run by road, like people do on the coast when a hurricane is coming.  This made things worse for the chasers, creating a traffic jam situation that doesn't normally occur in a storm.  In reality, a car is about one of the worst places to be in a tornado.

I was told that certain local media in OKC actually advised people to try to leave the town.  I do not know what they were thinking.  This is not a freaking hurricane!  This is a tornado!  When a tornado is threatening your area, you need to be underground or in a safe place, not trying to escape from it or outrun it.

Brandon, I understand it may be frustrating to create a topic only to find out there is a duplicate one after searching but that outbreak was completely unnecessary.  I am not trying to attack you personally, but posts with multiple exclamation marks and all caps are treated as shouting and not welcome here.  As you are a new member, I remind you to please look over the forum rules again.

Thank you. :)

Sorry for the double post, but it looks like TWC has finally stopped their continuing live coverage as of 8 PM ET.  At 8 PM they showed long-form then at 9 PM they had the special on the Oklahoma tornado.

Does anyone know how many consecutive hours TWC was live?  Were they showing long-form on Monday and then cut into it to show the tornado coverage, or were they planning to be live all day Monday?

TWC is going to be live to at least 11pm if not through the overnight.
There is a special on the tornadoes at 9pm ET.

This special actually airs tomorrow night, May 23, in case anyone is interested in watching it.

Severe Weather / Re: EF5 Tornado Tears Through Moore, OK
« on: May 21, 2013, 08:46:14 PM »
As this is surely a memorable event, I have made it a separate topic.

Again, as Tavores said, EF5 damage being reported in spots with winds 200 to 210 mph.

Seeing how the Moore, OK tornado became a subject of its own here, I have moved all of those posts to the Severe Weather section of the boards so you all can continue there.  If it warrants a topic on its own, we can certainly accommodate.
To be honest, yes. This event is going to be memorable enough to warrant its own topic.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike.  I thought the tornado deserved its own topic too, so I have gone ahead and made it a new topic.

Sorry if the posts seem a little out-of-context.  I took what Patrick moved from here to the severe weather thread and made those posts a new topic.  I know we have some other things about the tornado lingering around on the forums but those have to do with TWC, so I will keep them put.

I noticed that on TWC people are referring to her as "Alex Wilson." Do you guys think it was her choice or TWC forced her to be referred to as Alex? Her voice also seems drastically different on TWC then she did on FOX Carolina.

They made her into Crystal Egger's clone from day one unfortunately.

On a serious note, the name shortening is odd and I'm more inclined to believe it wasn't her choice.

Well, didn't they refer to Alexandra Steele as "Alexandra"?  Now I can't remember.  I mean, I know Alexandra is a long name to say, but c'mon.  If that's her name, then that's her name.

8 miles south of Moore right now. TWC did amazing job

Yes they did, I love that they simulcast between themselves and KFOR-TV. I don't know what the other OKC stations were showing, but KFOR had some stunning shots of the tornado from beginning to end today.

I really liked that too.  Often times the local news stations have the most up-to-date information, so I am very glad they did that.  Very good video too.

BTW, KFOR is the NBC affiliate in Oklahoma City, so that is why TWC used them for coverage.

I do not mean to be rude, but Chris Warren with Carl Parker is ruining everything.  Chris is consistently interrupting Carl with questions and comments, and it's hard for me to get anything out of this.  Carl was doing a fine job in the GFC by himself.  I do not know why Chris needed to join Carl.

TWC has been without commercials or LOT8s for over two hours.  It's times like these when I appreciate this channel.  I hope they would do this more often.

Probably what hit me most during TWC's coverage today was when we saw video of how large the tornado and debris ball was for the first time and Kim and Kelly almost started crying.  Just devastating.

TWC has their studio in "red mode" and the L3rds are now all red.  I am not sure when this started but clearly they are in a "storm alert" type of mode right now.

Well Tavores, I see two errors in that article.  The hurricane obviously (WTF?! :P ) but also the fact that the title is "Severe Kansas tornado prompts stark National Weather Service warning" when they are talking about Oklahoma City.  Maybe they are talking about Kansas later on in that article, but someone clearly didn't proofread.
