I'm guessing because No. is shorthand for number. Although it might have looked better if it were #. But that's how it is by default. I'm not sure if it can be changed or not.
Well the way the "o" is written, it almost looks like "N to the 0th power."

I'm a little confused why this forum should be restored. According to the e-mail "extensive damage" was done to the forum after a recent upgrade. What damage was done. I don't see anything wrong.
