The low at DFW dropped down to 15 degrees this morning, and the lowest reported wind chill was 1 degree.  I know that may sound lame to what most of you are dealing with, but that's still unusually cold for Dallas.

(Had I been back in Norman I would have dealt with a low temperature of 4 degrees and a minimum wind chill of -9 degrees.)

Dallas and surrounding counties in north Texas are now under a Wind Chill Advisory for wind chills near zero degrees or slightly below.

Brisk northerly winds behind the front.  Speeds have been sustained between 20 and 30 mph since this morning, with gusts generally between 30 and 35 mph.

Hmm... NWS just dropped our temperatures for Monday.  Looks like the cold will be dipping farther south.  First time I can remember seeing the "Cold" icon on the 7-day for Dallas in awhile (and some of you are probably laughing right now ).

Very frustrating how any precipitation wants to completely skip over Texas (excluding the panhandle).   We didn't receive anything from the last storm and won't from this one.  At this rate, the drought in the state is only going to worsen if no precipitation falls, which will lead to a nasty 2014.

Ugh - no!  I thought Dallas was going to be missing out on the colder weather, but it looks like that's a no.  It's a whapping 68 degrees here right now but will be some 30-degrees colder on Monday, according to current NWS forecasts.

Wow - a local forecast that's longer than one minute!

I actually really like it, especially that "future-cast" showing the big temperature drop when the cold front came through.

Well if TWC eventually does what G4 did then maybe... People are already complaining about every part of TWC.   

3. Website cluttered with gore and blood. non weather stories. Plus the many ads.

This is something else I don't appreciate.  Like, for example, when they showed the "Walking Dead and Weather" stuff on air for about a week.  In my eyes, some of this stuff is just plain inappropriate.

Euro has been aggressive on the winter storms so far this season (at one point the model was forecasting a few feet of snow for parts of Oklahoma and Kansas).  I wouldn't rely on it heavily in predicting snowfall totals for this upcoming storm.

This isn't only a DirecTV issue, then; it's a TWC issue.  Obviously, (NBC-)Comcast won't drop TWC, but the fact that they're carrying WN now says a lot.  By the way, the addition of WN doesn't necessarily mean the end of TWC; there are multiple news and sports networks, so why not weather?

Exactly, which is why I have said above, TWC's executives really have no right in complaining about this.  The days where there was one "Weather Channel" are over.  If TWC can't deal with competition (more like they're afraid to), then, well, that's just sad.

I really wish I could see what TWC was doing behind the scenes.  The re-launch was over a month ago, and yet many errors still remain present on the local forecasts.  I know it's all about patience, but I wonder if the technical crews are really working around the clock to fix the issues, or if the LF has, once again, become a secondary project for this channel.  Perhaps the holidays slowed things down.

I doubt cable companies will drop TWC, but I hope they make efforts to pick up WeatherNation (and Network Weather if that's ever launching).  Articles that I have read about DirecTV adding WeatherNation have said that TWC executives are upset about it, but to me that just sounds like TWC execs being a bunch of whiny cry-babies over the realization that someone is actually trying to compete with them for once.

DirectTV to drop TWC?

DirecTV just loves to piss a lot of TV channels/companies off, don't they?

But in all honesty, I am proud of DirecTV for doing this.  The article says that TWC executives are upset, but if viewers want a real "weather" channel, then that's TWC's problem, not DirecTV who wants to provide for their customers.  We'll see if this actually happens, though - like usual, DirecTV will probably make a deal with TWC at the last minute.
