I'm finally done with moving!  It took a lot longer than I thought, but I'm now all settled into my new apartment.  Hope all of you are doing well this weekend.

Welcome back, Patrick! :welcome: We're glad to see you again.

Was Alex coverage at 7 CT/8 ET with Chris and Kelly unexpected? :dunno: There was a long period of a black screen (but with small LDL activated) before PME started, and when it did finally start, Kelly was cut-off and there was no LDL for the first 5-minute segment.

It looks like all of TWC's tropical graphics for 2010 will be like the "Tropical Update" opener, with text inside the red parallelogram on the water. These graphics look a lot like Storm Alert though, so I'll be interested what the "real" Storm Alert opens will be like (should there be a major hurricane this year).

Well, TS Alex is certainly taking a turn for the [best or worst]...your call. According to NOAA's and TWC's projected paths (Tavores' map above has been updating automatically), Alex may not even hit the US at all (or if it does, it will be Brownsville, TX). I guess this won't be the storm to "test" the oil spill.

Ryan and Kim will be on from 3-7 today for Alex coverage.

Wow, they really need THAT much coverage.

Well, Alex does not look like it will have much "water space" to intensify into a hurricane (or anything greater than a Cat 1). Also, will this affect the oil spill, because according to the projected path above, it looks like Alex will take a turn to affect Mexico and southern Texas. Maybe it could stir up some trouble, though...IDK...projected paths always change. :dunno:

Also, I think Dr. Rick Knabb is a great replacement for Dr. Steve Lyons.  He seems to be very knowledgable and I look forward to his coverage throughout this season.

Since I was so used to him, it's hard for me to see a replacement for Dr. Steve Lyons. And I haven't really seen any of Dr. Knabb's forecasts either...hopefully he is a good hurricane expert.

Celia is a VERY impressive-looking hurricane...GREAT satellite pics. :D Interesting that it will quickl diminish in strength, though.

It's unfortunate the WEATHER update on The WEATHER Channel had to be cut-off by some stupid NEWS update. I would rather watch the emergency feed with Trammell than this oil-spill special nonsense. <_<

Darn, I forgot this :censored: special report on the oil spill was airing tonight...here I was all hyped up to watch Weather Center. I think I would rather have seen the emergency satellite feed featuring Trammell for an hour. <_<

Sorry for the sudden topic change, but Happy 3rd Birthday to TWC Today!! B)

That's strange...I thought this site had been around since 2005.
TWCT was originally just a free hosted message board, which opened in early 2005, but the TWCT we know now didn't launch until June 2007. The site actually launched around early-mid June; this particular SMF forum just didn't open until the 25th (after we encountered an issue with the old Invision-esque forum).

And it's worth noting that the original forum wasn't called "TWC Today." It was just a TWC/weather-themed message board run by Gary. The "TWC Today" name didn't come into effect until after Matt said that he would stop all current content on TWC Classics.

OK...that makes sense.  Wow Mike, according to your sig, you've been on these forums for awhile now.

Happy 3rd Anniversary, TWCT Forums!
 :D

Well I don't know what the grey bar is, but I think the showing of a different city means something is wrong with HiRAD for your city.
