Cool...but it looks now as if it will have no impact to land. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. :hmm:

OK, so is "Lightning Rod" the same thing or different as these "Weather or Not" segments that, according to weather.com, have a set time to appear on Weather Center (7:40, 8:40, & 9:40)? :dunno: Don't both segments have the same hosts?

Your Local Weather / Re: Dallas-Fort Worth weather
« on: August 19, 2010, 01:02:30 PM »
After almost THREE weeks of 100-plus degree temperatures for the DFW metro area, this streak of consecutive 100-plus degree days was broken yesterday thanks to cloud cover and some rain. The heat advisory, which had been in effect for about two and a half weeks, was cancelled Tuesday evening and was not in effect yesterday. Unfortunately, a new heat advisory signaling the return of hot weather and high humidity has returned today and is in effect until 8 PM CDT Friday.

Below are a couple of graphics I created showing exactly how hot it was for the past several days and what the current triple-digit heat "status" is for the metroplex as of August 18, 2010. Data and some graphics courtesy of The National Weather Service and The Weather Channel.

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion

Great now "Cleveland" is stuck on the LDA Today  :itsok:

TWC needs to realize its doing this and just get rid of the darn thing. <_< What good is the LDA to even the average viewer if it is stuck on a city EVERY day. The only people who will love are the people living in the city it is stuck on.

Don't abandon this Al...this is really good!

From what TWC is doing now with its red L3rds and red LDLs (for DEPRESSIONS, darn it) I think SA, if it does still exist, will not "stand out" as much as it did before. Because what more can you essentially turn red? The whole screen?

So Storm Alert may not exist anymore because of this, but IDK.

Is CamStudio what a lot of you all use to record things, such as the WS4000 and some PowerPoint emulations?

Everything Else TWC / Re: Redesigned website coming soon!

Well, it looks like weather.com is no longer in beta. I will admit that I'm a little disappointed, though, because it looks like the 10-day and a few other pages will NOT be updated from how they looked on the old site. <_<

Is Day Planner being hosted from the old studio/expert area today? Both segments I've seen thus far, they've been sourcing all graphics full screen, and both Carl and Heather have been in the expert area.

Well I don't know about today but this happened on DP once before. Everything except for the Weekly Planner was done from the Expert Desk in the old studio, and I don't know why.

Programming and Graphics / Re: New HD LDL

I think I saw that blank LDL once before. I didn't realize it was on the HD feed...it looks just like the 33% SD LDL.

Anyway, I would much rather them use that than the stupid LDA that ALWAYS gets stuck. Does TWC even know it's doing that?

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Central 2010
« on: August 17, 2010, 08:58:27 PM »
Well, I know that people really don't want hurricanes, and this is a pretty stupid wish, but I really hope the season starts getting active now and we see some strong hurricanes soon. It's really fun to watch where they are going to go, and even though TWC will have a huge fit over any hurricane of any strength, I'm getting a little tired of these small, short-lasting storms during a "hurricane season that is supposed to be as active as 2005." Wouldn't that really be something if these predictions were totally off. But I know we are now just reaching the "peak" of hurricane season, so hopefully we'll get some activity soon! :D

Thanks for providing the models, Tavores...they look really interesting.

Tyler will hopefully let us know when it's about to rollout.

Yes, we will definetely hear when more "roll-outs" happen. Tyler and a few other members are very good at letting us know. So everyone just needs to be patient. ;)

And LDA frozen city of the day is...(drum roll, please)...Indianapolis!! :P

TWC seriously needs to do something about this, because it could eventually burn an image into a plasma TV screen.

I would rather this be its own show. But is it just going to be two people talking (like tonight), or will it have some "action"? :dunno:

P.S. Is this chat all about TWC or just about Lightning Rod in general? Because if it is a LR chat, why would someone be asking what LOT8s is?
