Got the Emergency Feed sightings recorded and will upload when I have a chance.

Thanks. I'd like to see what the Emergency Feed looks like now with these latest graphics.

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Central 2014

Wow!  Clearly TWC and CSU are predicting for El Nino to be in place, making this a relatively inactive hurricane season.  (Now watch both of them blow it the other way... )

Everything Else TWC / Re: General TWC Discussion
« on: May 12, 2014, 12:25:54 AM »
TWC either went to dual-feed coverage or stopped coverage completely as of 12 AM ET/11 PM CT as Highway Through Hell came on.  I only watched for about half an hour but up until that point the LDL was blue not red and no LOT8s were being shown (though they had plenty of time for a nice long commercial break. <_< )

Local Forecast / Re: 4000/XL/Jr. - The End Is Near
« on: May 11, 2014, 09:03:52 PM »
Also, I'm probably the only person here that has never seen a STAR XL in person ever :(

Really?  Interesting.  I've unfortunately never seen anything below an XL in person (4000, 3000, Jr, etc.) but I have seen versions 2 and 3 of the XL.  In fact, I'll never forget when Dallas still had the XL and my reaction when this new local forecast suddenly appeared (the IntelliSTAR :P ).

Some numbers from this week's heat wave.  Oklahoma City faired three days of record high temperatures.

Severe Weather / Re: Severe Weather 2014

The southeast was certainly spared from a second tornado outbreak today.  Thank goodness.  Hopefully Wednesday and Thursday will prove to be similarly uneventful.

Except NC, that's where all the action was today surprisingly.

Yes, but even there, the tornadoes seemed to be mostly brief and weaker tornadoes and were not the violent ones we saw on Monday.  I still can't believe how many tornadoes were reported on Monday!

Nevertheless, nice to see that we've made it this far with the Front Porch.  Here's to 1000 more! :drunk:

61°F Fair

OKC set a RECORD LOW of 27°F this morning, breaking the old record of 30°F, set back in 1928.  This also breaks a record for the latest day in the spring season to fall below the 30-degree mark.  The previous record was April 14, 1980 when the temperature dropped to 27 degrees.

General Discussion / Re: NWS website redesign
« on: April 14, 2014, 12:53:40 AM »
So this is kind of a random observation, but I'm pretty sure NWS changed the colors for freeze/hard freeze watches and warnings.  Didn't a hard freeze warning used to be a blue color, and the freeze warning was a teal color?  Now it's purple for hard freeze and a darker blue for freeze.  The watch colors have changed too.

This image has the new colors.  This link has the old colors.

Hi Zach! Glad you decided to stop by.

On another note, I hope all of you who live in the eastern US are surviving this major flood. :P

TWC and your Cable Company / Re: DirecTV Dropping TWC
« on: April 08, 2014, 03:29:00 PM »
Oh well. :(  It sounds like some people who have DirecTV have truly missed The Weather Channel, but I have a feeling this supposed cutting of reality shows will only last a short time before TWC decides to do their own thing again.

Does this mean WeatherNation will disappear from DirecTV, I wonder?

Bizarre LOT8s error 3/14/14

Haha, that's funny, I was viewing this on my phone and was like, "Why the heck isn't it showing the whole screen?!"  Then I saw the description and thought, "Oh." :blushing:
