I would not be surprised if this new logo goes live for everything. Think FOX News rotating logo.
That's what I'm thinking too, as long as the IntelliStar can handle an animation like that. A lot of other news channels, and the Big 3 channels are like this.

That's what I said. This logo reminds me of a lot of rotating news station logos.

New animated logo during lHDl locals

The Weather Channel HD Local Forecast: With new Animated Logo

It doesn't say |HD| anymore   :footinmouth:

But I don't hate it too much, although it reminds of something news channels do by always rotating the logo.

Tornado sirens currently going off in my area for a strong cell to the east. I don't think the tornado will affect where I live, but I hope this blows over soon.

Tropical Storm Hermine just a small threat to the US? :dunno:

Not really. This is the first time in awhile since I remember this much flooding in the DFW metroplex. We got quite a bit of rain from Hurricane Alex back in June, but I don't know if it was this much.

Please check out the Dallas-Fort Worth Weather thread for my latest update on Hermine in the DFW area. :)

Hurricane Central / Re: Tropical Storm Igor
« on: September 08, 2010, 06:43:35 PM »
From the ensemble model that Alex posted, it looks like Igor is going to pull another Danielle by making a gradual northward turn and staying far away from the US (and maybe even Bermuda). I guess it's still too hard to tell this far out.

The hurricane season is getting active, but, as of now, it's no where near close to the activity of the 2005 hurricane season. People who predicted that this hurricane season was going to be like that of 2005 can't really say "I told you so" until we get through ALL the names and have at least one major hurricane make a direct landfall on the US. Heck, Igor is the equivalent name of Ike back in 2008, and that hit the US right around this time.

***MAJOR FLOOD THREAT FOR DALLAS/FORT WORTH***

Tropical Depression Hermine was not too friendly when she passed through the metroplex today. From a constant rain overnight to periods of very heavy rain and strong winds throughout the day, Hermine was definetely not playing around.

The rain stopped at about 1 PM this afternoon, and the sun is trying to peak through the big clouds, but this is probably not going to be the end of it. Forecasts are showing more rain for tonight and possibly tomorrow morning (graphics below).

You can check out this photo gallery on weather.com of flooded roads, houses, etc. by clicking here.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine (now TD Hermine) are going to bring a lot of rain here to the DFW Metroplex tonight and tomorrow. Here are some forecast graphics for the Metroplex. I put these together pretty quickly, so if there are any mistakes, I apologize. Enjoy! :)

Eventhough I think accuweather is right about their forecast, I'm still crossing my fingers that the  Farmer's Almanac is right about my area.

You want a very cold and wet winter?

I hope the AccuWeather Forecast is right. I hate winter; it's my least favorite season. Sure, the snow is fun but that's only WHEN we get some (which is hardly ever [except for last winter]), so what's the point in just cold and miserable weather?

IF the AccuWeather forecast is right, though, it demonstrates an opposite winter from the 2009-2010 winter because we broke a ton of snow records this past winter.

Whoa! Where did this thing come from??? :o

Hermine... Probably nothing but a nuisence low pressure system.

Not really. ;) Hermine is now a tropical storm with sustained winds of 50 mph and *might* become a hurricane before it makes landfall tonight (you know what, never mind.)

Is the LDA back on TWC HD?

No, not yet. I wish they would do away with the 33% LDL and LDA, but that obviously is not going to happen. :( My guess is that everything will be back to normal tomorrow.

Red LDLs with the random-city radar insert are still being used for PME and, like yesterday, the "Today's Forecast" temperature is unavailable. Don't know why this is happening.

Also, did PME get new L3rds? I thought the top "bar" used to be all black, but now some of it is a very light shade of gray.
