These Twitter boxes and now Jesse's awesome glass writing are sure becoming popular signatures around here. :D

BTW Ana, where did your new username "Meganium90" come from? It'll be a change for all of us, especially since "Anistorm" had been around for at least a year.

A theory... Someone may have partied too hard... Clearly there's more to why they're not using the video wall as a primary source, but this could be a factor...

I can't really tell what's wrong...is that a discoloration or something in the wall? Anyways, couldn't TWC just use one side and not the other instead of not using it all together? :dunno:

And since you brought this up Jesse, you can't bash other people over the head for mentioning the video wall like you did before. :P

It's hard to believe that we're less than two weeks away from Halloween.  This month is flying quickly.  Hope all of you are doing well as we approach the holidays!

I can't wait for Halloween. I'm not sure what to dress up for yet, but if I were to make a fast costume, I may end up being a Meganium. If I go for last minute costume shopping, I may end up being a Roman Empress.

Or, maybe... Lady Gaga
..................kidding. :P

I'm more looking forward to the candy than the whole costume thing. Still I have to take my sister trick-or-treating... which I hate. lol

Is anyone else dressing up for Halloween?

Halloween seems to get less and less participation every year. :( Most people around here don't give out candy like they used too. Glad my trick-or-treating days are over. :D

New Segment on WC: Earth Watch With Carl Parker

Topic: Solar City

What's the deal with all these WC segments? Guess TWC just wants to attract more viewers with all this pointless stuff.

OCMs & Personalities / Re: Re: Alexandra Steele Let Go

Her bio is still on the website too... http://www.weather.com/tv/personalities/Alexandra-Steele.html

That doesn't mean anything at all. They rarely update the bio pages on weather.com. There have been instanced where OCMs have left and their bio pages wee still on the server months later.

Yeah, don't ever trust the bio pages to determine if an OCM is or is not still at TWC. ;)

And I'm not sure why "Cantore and Steele" hasn't been changed but again, TWC probably tends to forget about these less important things and hasn't thought to change the name.

To be honest, I don't think ANY of the storm names from this year will be retired. We had a lot of "fish" storms. The only one that may have a slight chance is Alex, and that really never hit the US (it made direct landfall in Mexico).

Ok so I was just going through Egger's Facebook reading comments, and found something interesting. She says a few times "filling in" on Weather Center, long after we started speculating Alex was let go.

On October 12 @ 6:10pm, she commented on a wall post and said "...back to filling in on nights today-Friday"
On October 12 at 6:14pm, she commented on a wall post and said "...I'm filling in on the night shows this week, Tuesday-Friday. 7 to 10pm eastern"

Also, someone posted and asked if Egger knocked Alex out of the line up, and Egger responded and said "Hi John, I'm just filling in where I'm needed. I'll be on Day Planner with Samantha Mohr on Monday."

Interesting. I still think Alex is no longer at TWC because we haven't seen her in awhile, and I guess maybe Crystal wouldn't be told that she is replacing someone...IDK.

I guess Crystal is just a "floater" OCM for now; like she said, she'll be on whenever they need someone to "fill in."

Interesting how Crystal was on DP last Monday, too. Will Kim be on WC with Chris tonight like last week?

I was thinking hopefully when the Intellistar2 is officially rolled out nationwide.

From the looks of it, I don't think the IS2 will be rolled out nationwide for quite awhile, especially not in the time frame you suggested above. ;) (I could be wrong, though.)

Hurricane Central / Re: Super Typhoon Megi
« on: October 17, 2010, 10:39:46 PM »
I'm very confused right now. From the lastest satellite imagery, it looks like Megi will be making a direct hit on Philippines cities such as Roxas or Baguio. But when I check the weather.com forecasts for these cities, all I see are a 60% chance of thunderstorms for the next few days with maximum wind speeds of 10 to 15 mph. Am I looking at the map or forecast incorrectly, or are typhoons different than hurricanes?
There's no difference between typhoons and hurricanes.  Typhoons are just hurricanes that form in the western Pacific.

So then I wonder what the deal is with the forecasts? Maybe the typhoon won't be hitting those cities, but I thought that's what the map showed and then would expect to see lots of rain and wind in the forecast.

And I did know that typhoon and hurricane meant the same thing, just wondered if maybe they had different "characteristics" depending on where they were in the world (but I guess that's a "no").
