OCMs & Personalities / Re: Re: Alexandra Steele Let Go
« on: October 28, 2010, 09:45:22 PM »
I'm really sad that TWC has "let her go" Alex was one of my favorite OCMS on the network. She always worked great with her co anchors and could always bring a smile to your face. I don't see why they pretty much had to replace her with some new young chick! I mean seriously!! So long farewell to the good days of Weather Center.  This is just another  :censored: up by NBC...among many.  The network has really gone downhill since NBC took over.  I just hope it doesn't get worse! I can tell you this....if they let go of Tesch, Bettes, Abrams, Parker, Goodloe, or Berg....I'm through!

They're definetely not going to let go of Abrams, Bettes, or Berg, so you don't have to worry about that. ;) I certainly hope the others stay for awhile too.

Interesting how some other viewers are thinking the same thing about the "corruption" of TWC as we are. :thrilled: I like it how Jim's angry post about the movie from April was brought up as well as the mention of another viewer who also didn't like movies on TWC.

Hopefully, this :censored: :censored: Peacock Productions idiot (oh, how I wish she could see how much I hate her) wasn't telling the truth or exagerating.

But it does confuse me...to see two completely contradicting sides. Is TWC defintely going pro-long-form or pro-live coverage??

When I look at this thread overall, everyone is in agreement about how we view NBC's role with TWC, but some of us are just tired of discussing it and want to move on to something more positive.
Okay, let's talk about bunnies.

What part about bunnies do you wish to talk about, Matt? :P

There are still storms forming out there? Could of sworn Paul would be the last one this year.

Anyway, I don't think we'll run out of names this year...just a prediction. If we're lucky, then Walter will be the last named storm. :thrilled:

Programming and Graphics / Re: Lightning Rod--CANCELLED
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:17:39 PM »
Was Lightning Rod supposed to be just a longer version of the "talk show" segments on WC? :dunno: Because that's not what the video from TWC MediaKit (made several months ago) said about LR. Anyways, maybe TWC was smart in showing the segments before the full show to get viewer feedback before launching something the public wouldn't like. I thought someone said ratings for this thing were high though...what happened???

Damn it. Anyone by chance download that video?

Now it's a private :censored: video?? Good thing we saw it when we did...does anyone want to become the video uploader's friend? :whistling2:

I feel like punching that executive in the face.

Me too. <_< In fact, I wish I could just take out a gun and... (OK sorry, I won't be THAT violent.)

As much as I hate what she said, I can believe it. Most people look at the weather on their iPhone or iPad or laptop or some other form of "mobile" technology out there. Why watch TWC? Also, although this kind of goes onto a different topic, TWC is not very reliable for "local" coverage. If a tornado was threatening my area, I would probably tune in to my local weather station rather than TWC (which, with my luck would probably be showing long-form).

So I know I agreed with the executive above, but like many of you, I still think this is a step in the wrong direction and wish it wouldn't happen. If they do intend to show long-form, at least it needs to be something interesting and not a :censored: movie. And I expect the L-Bar or some other very noticeable weather insert appears ever ten minutes to give me my local forecast. :hammer:

Now THAT'S freaky. This is happening to my little sister, who is 8 years old and in the 2nd grade currently. (she got held back in kindergarten). For Christmas she wants an iPod touch, because when I let her use mine one time, she could not let go of it. She also wants a laptop as well. She told me one time that 50% of her 2nd grade class has a cellphone (not sure if they're the kids-version or the iPhone version ) It's crazy to see that kids these days are in love with today's available technology (iPads, video games such as the Wii or Xbox, etc). What worries me is their responsibility. How are they able to take care of those fragile things? My sister broke her Nintendo DS Lite, and it hasn't been a year since my mother spent a fortune on it.

In my childhood, it was all about Barbies, Hot Wheels, reading awesome books, and board games. All those amazing things we had in the past will start to slowly disappear soon thanks to technology.

Your sister is in 2nd grade and wants a laptop?!? I didn't have a laptop until 8th grade. And although I had a cell phone before this, it wasn't in second grade.

It is amazing, and almost sad, how technology has really evolved to change kids minds. An iPhone or iPad for a 5-year-old...can you imagine???  The board games, legos, books, etc. are really starting to phase out. :(

so this morning i was sleeping until about 9am when I started to hear what was rain outside, it was coming down hard and I said....cool, we need it, no big deal. lol well, about 15 minutes later I started hearing the nasty thunderstorms that aren't the normal "boom", i got up checked the NWS and TWC and confirmed that my area was under a Tornado Warning. about 3 minutes after that, ASU sent out an Alert to all it's students telling us to evacuate to the first floor of our hall immediately.

we also have tornado sirens, but it's become apparent that they have failed in the event of a serious situation...not sure how the city will handle that, but if you were watching TWC and saw San Angelo on the map, that's where I was.  :P

Hope you're alright, Al. Severe storms are pounding a lot of Texas today; Fort Worth is currently under a Tornado Warning until 1:30 pm.

Are there any new changes?  It's been a couple months.  I was hoping things have gotten smoother and new features have been added.  :D

I don't think so. I don't have the IS2, so I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing that if any changes had been made we'd know about them. ;)

Christina, did you happen to ever catch the Marine forecast? If not, that's OK but I know a lot of us are eager to see it. :)

New Look for the National forecast with systems and winds. Too much info on the screen???

There seem to be a lot of low pressure systems at once, but I do like the graphics and "look" of everything. One question, though: how come one warm front is red and another (in the south) is like a brownish color? Is that not supposed to be a warm front?

Thanks, Patrick. I've been talking to my professors, and they understand, but I still need to find a way to learn to get through this. It's almost as if now it's finally hitting me. When it first happened, I was just in shock, but now I realize more and more that he really is gone. I don't want anyone to worry that I'm going to commit suicide or anything, because I am eager and determined to learn to cope with the loss and learn to cherish my love and friendship with my family and friends. If I were to take a year off, I would spend it doing something worthwhile. I've always wanted to travel to Africa and help people there in any way I can. If I can do something fulfilling, I think that might help me out a lot. I've worked out arrangements with a therapist and a few counselors, so I hope I can stick through these hardships and make it through this year strong. I guess I'm not really sticking this out alone because I do have family around, but they seem to be coping with the loss much better than I am. But thank you for your advice, Patrick. I hope I can get over this to the point where I can focus on my own future instead of dreading the sad things that happened in the past.

Christina, while I haven't ever been in the same situation as you are currently going through, I do want to say that I really admire your determination to learn and your positive outlook on life despite your loss. I couldn't imagine what life would be like without one of my parents; I don't know if I would have the same determination and optimism as you do now, so I really commend you for that and admire it so much. Your dream to go to Africa and help people there also touches me as well. May all go well for you in this difficult time in your life. Best wishes! :)

So THAT's the green screen they've been using? I guess it may be for a temporary reason then...can't believe the other two green screens in an HD studio aren't HD safe.

(Oh yeah, and I'm assuming your picture was to show the temporary green screen and not Stephanie's awesome uggs, right Jesse? :P)
