Hmm, I didn't clear my cache and I was seeing the Valentines Day logo up until the last couple of hours. Now the regular one used for WC is up.

Me too. I'll never understand the whole cache/cookies thing.

Sorry for double-posting but...

Are any of you getting that stupid virus that says "Warning! Your computer is at risk of malicious viruses, blah blah" and then starts a scan that's really a virus when you visit ImageShack.com? It's been happening to me EVERY single time I go to their website, so I guess I won't be using ImageShack to upload my photos anymore. <_<

You need to be careful. It's a scam that wants you to think you have a virus. I've been there before. Try Photobucket.

I know. I've heard horrible stories from people who were tricked into downloading the virus. I'm just upset that it pops up EVERY time I open ImageShack, so I guess I'll try Photobucket or something else for uploading images now.

Guys, just so you all know, Jesse is always all over the logos and knows when to change them and how long to keep them up, so this should never be an issue. ;)

Thanks for your hard work, Jesse.

Although it would be interesting to see another logo, I don't really see why we need a special one for "Primed for Excitement." Isn't it basically like any other long-form? :dunno:

I'd still like to see an LDL on the local forecast, though the upper-left corner does that already.  Still... it seems like an awful lot of wasted space.

You're right...it's almost like the IS2 was made for an LDL with all that blank space at the bottom, but maybe not. I guess "LDA" is the new thing now.

So does this mean you'll be working there permanantly or is it just temporary? :dunno:
I'm just here until Friday afternoon for training, then I'll fly back home that evening.  I've already issued my first practice severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings during a simulation of the outbreak in TN on April 3, 2009.

Sounds like a lot of fun...hope you are enjoying yourself, Patrick. :) I actually toured the National Weather Center not too long ago; it is indeed very neat.

This Sunday, I'll be flying to Norman, OK for a week to attend a training workshop on radar and severe weather warnings.  When I complete this workshop, I'll be able to issue warnings during future forecasting shifts.  I've only flown a few times in my life, so I'm naturally pretty nervous.  Wish me luck!

Good luck, Patrick! :D I'm assuming you will be working in The National Weather Center?

Deja vu? Or maybe just a big hype? :dunno: Another winter storm is on its way to the Metroplex. The forecast graphics are below. What's really a deja vu is that the conditions and temperature drops are pretty much the same as last week.

WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST WEDNESDAY
NEW! WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST WEDNESDAY

Great news! As you can see above, a big difference is that this winter storm won't be lasting for very long. The 60s are coming by the weekend!

Is it just me or did Crystal have this look on her face like, "FINALLY, I can go home and get the hell out of here." look when that extreme weather video briefly cut off and the shot went back to the studio. Chris also looked awkward and embarrassed, trying to slowly walk off camera.   :P

Oo, that would be funny to see on video. :P

Talk about a "wild week of weather!" :o Winter unleashed its fury in the Metroplex last week, and here are some weather headlines and graphics from that storm:

Wild Weather Week Headlines
  • Freezing rain and wintry mix swept through the Metroplex early Tuesday morning, bringing about an inch of ice to the ground and making travel “treacherous if not impossible.”
  • Following the dramatic front, temperatures remained below freezing for a little over 100 hours (early Tuesday morning to late Saturday morning).
  • Due to the icy road conditions and below-freezing temperatures, most Metroplex schools remained closed for four consecutive days.
  • Wind speeds (not gusts) on Tuesday were as high as 36 mph and on Wednesday as high as 24 mph, causing wind chills at times to be below zero. (The lowest wind chill temperature on Tuesday was -1°F and -5°F on Wednesday.)
  • Wednesday was the coldest day in Dallas since February 1989. The high only reached 20°F, and that was at 10:40 at night!
  • Both rolling and unexpected blackouts left a great deal of the city without power on Wednesday.
  • A “light dusting” to “less than one inch” of snow turned out to be about a half a foot on Friday when a snow burst delivered a great deal of snow to an already iced-out city.
  • Friday's Snow caused many flight delays at DFW Airport and closed Dallas Love Field for some time.
  • Thawing ice on the top of Cowboy's Stadium (the site of Super Bowl XLV) injured as many as seven workers Friday afternoon.

Images/Graphics

The ruler shows four inches of snow from Friday all sitting over a little less than an inch of ice from Tuesday.

How cold were temperatures during this "cold snap?" Check above.

As I mentioned earlier, only in Texas can temperatures be so nice one day and then drastically take a turn for the worst the next few. The graphic above shows how much of a roller coaster the temperatures were.

And what's the worst part? There's more of this coming on Wednesday...:(
