if yesterday was a sign of things to come watch there be more tornadoes in new england this summertornadoes can strike anywhere, it's not all about oklahoma and alabama as y'all perceive it to be
Oklahoma and Alabama are in tornado alley, so they may get more than others, but tornadoes can obviously strike in any part of the country. That makes sense.

That Tropical Update Opener looks a hell of a lot better than the 2010 one. The transition to the palm trees swaying in the wind/rain is nice.
But maybe that's not such a bad thing.
The DP intro used the old musicI saw that! Well, that was great opener music.
Weatherscan 16:9 SD?
I'm not trying to be critical because I honestly have no idea. 16:9 in SD...
I was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem--well, unfortunately, my front porch (ha ha, get it?) has been taken over by wasps. And to make matters worse, they are trying to build a nest in my outdoor ceiling fan. Even with the fan on, those little buggers ride the blades like a rollercoaster and just crawl inside it where the motor is. What the heck? Now I can't enjoy sitting on my balcony in the evenings because there is a wasp attack right above my chair. I've considered spraying the inside of my fan, but it sounds like a shock hazard when I say that. Any advice?
My back porch has been taken over by wasps. We used to have a ceiling fan, and they would always build their nests in there. But now since the fan is gone, the wasps seem to be crawling up under the gutters and building a nest in the attic. According to the Terminix guy, the wasps we have are called "mud-daubers" and won't sting you unless you pose a serious threat to them. But I still don't like any wasps on my back porch.
A few things bother me about this new SD Satellite LF.
First up, on the flavors that I've seen, there are no Watches/Warnings page. This seems like an important part of the LF, because if you're seeing the satellite LF, that means you're not seeing a local STAR which would give you any information pertaining to severe weather watches or warnings that you may be under. The old SD Satellite LF had these products displayed first thing on the LF, because they're important, and the HD Satellite LF (which this new SD Satellite LF seems to based on) has the Watches/Warnings product. Why doesn't the new SD Satellite LF have the product? Why the SD version of the Satellite LF doesn't use the same flavor lineup as the HD version is beyond me, because they seem to be very similar in almost every other way.
Another is the radar/satellite loops. They seem to go by too quickly (only two loops) and they seem to be somewhat lagy and jumpy; the animation is anything but smooth. Another thing I've noticed is that the radar/satellite does show Severe Thunderstorm/Tornado watch polygons (like the HD Satellite LF and previous SD Satellite LF); however, on TWC's new radar system that they use for national segments, they don't show the watch polygons, they show the individual counties under the watch area, which seems to be the preferred way to display the watches, as noted by the SPC.
It would be much more consistent; the only thing they would need to have done was turn a 16:9 screen into 4:3 one.
Will this also be used for the emergency feed?

i'm not so sure about the rain and lightning on the base maps...quite distracting.

It looks like they're finally phasing out their old WPS/WSI satellite LF system that had been a fixture since 1999 with a more-modern Vizrt-based satellite LF, not unlike the current HD Satellite LF. The finny thing is, I predicted this would happen nearly two years ago...
