It appears the L-bar has made a return at :18  :o

Maybe it hasn't been discontinued for good.

Assuming the L-bar is the squeezeback, I wonder if TWC has now reached the final stage of their expanded coverage by showing the LOT8s utilizing the squeezeback, allowing them to simultaneouly show local weather and continued coverage.

This was tested earlier on. Pretty neat idea, IMO.

Sorry those were broken earlier. People really getting worried here

Emergency Management Bulletin on my IS2. Don't think anyone has recorded one of these in the past

Hurricane Irene- Emergency Management Bulletin

Hurricane Watch Scroll under Smokey Skies

Hurricane Watch- Irene

Thanks for posting again, Martin! But why don't you have the red box on The Week Ahead indicating hurricane conditions? Are these not done on the IS2? :dunno:

I also don't like how the Management Bulletin covers up part of the LDL.

is it just me or did irene just make a NNE turn?

Yeah, it probably is a "wobble." Hurricanes can never seem to travle in nice, smooth curves. They've always gotta be all over the place. Maybe they are drunk. :P

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but if SA ever commences (which I think should be tomorrow during WCL at latest), I don't think it's going to be as "exciting" as we once remember it to be. The only difference between SA and now we would be experiencing is an opener that says "Storm Alert" and SA music on the LF. The change from regular to alert mode won't be as drastic, considering they have already started using red L3rds, a red LDL, and pre-empted long form.

About an hour ago Daytona Beach got slammed by one of Irene's outermost bands.  It got dark practically in an instant, it started pouring, and the wind got strong enough to make the rain virtually horizontal.  And after about half an hour it was all over.  The clouds look so beautiful, though.

Sounds like a "neat" experience. Now you can technically say you've been in a hurricane, but without getting pounded by the worst of it.

TWC is now in Red Mode as of the start of WCL tonight.  Where TWC goes from here, who knows.

OK, so what is this "red mode"? How have they increased their coverage? :dunno: Is anything red that wasn't before?

So how many landfalls can hurricanes truly make? :P

If we zoom in very closely on the Hurricane Tracker (which I know isn't 100% accurate), it looks like Irene's center will first strike NC, then pass over many bays (don't know if those count as clearing land or not), brush the coast of Virginia, go back out into the Atlantic or maybe just the Chesapeake Bay, then brush the coast of NJ before passing over the Delaware Bay and striking New York.

BTW, the track has once again shifted slighty west. Ocean City and Atlantic City are now to the EAST of the center.

Speaking of the red box, does the IS2 not have this capability? Martin's IS2 videos he posted did not have red boxes on the Week Ahead.

Folks, please remove your videos with "Your Hand in Mine" by Explosions in the Sky. I got a copyright stike for uploading my LF clip with that song and now my account is suspended. Really mad right now because I want it back!

Do they watch you more closely and become stricter after you get previous copyright strikes? There are so many videos on YT right now with that song, and they've been up for years! :o

What kind of coverage is TWC doing now? (I'm sorry, but I don't have access to a TV to watch). I thought they were already in "Red Mode" because of the red LDL and red L3rds I saw earlier. And longform has definetely been pre-empted. Anything else TWC is doing yet to extend their coverage (i.e. less commercials or omitting some LFs)?

Whoa, Irene, looks like your track has shifted west a little! :o Looking at TWC's Hurricane Tracker, Irene may now make TWO landfalls: one on the Outer Banks of NC and one in Ocean City, NJ.

Also, to respond to your question Tavores, I thought Ike was bigger in size than Katrina, which means that Irene is bigger than Katrina.

They keep saying NJ, NY and southern MA will be the hardest hit, but I have a feeling it'll be nothing more than just a rainstorm

TWC's Hurricane Tracker has the center of the storm passing right over Atlantic City. Are you sure about that? :dunno:

I thought TWC only used "Storm Alert" for major hurricanes (cat. 3 or higher)? :dunno: Although Irene has reached this status, it's expected to weaken before landfall.

Except for the LDL, i'm shocked that TWC is not in Red Mode yet, yet alone Storm Alert (If there is a Storm Alert anymore) Could TWC be getting the red stuff ready for Storm Alert?  I wonder if we'll see a L Bar like we did for Earl??
Me neither. I think TWC will go into some alert mode tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully they will bring it back

I thought they already were in Red Mode???
