Well, the Metroplex finally did it! All that summer suffering...for a triple-digit record. Some are excited, some have lost their minds. How would you feel if you had to suffer through 70 days of triple-digits in a year?

Guys, I'm just going to be frank: this is really getting out-of-hand. First off, we don't know 100% if this is even going to be permanent. Alex said they were just "testing" something.

Second of all, I highly doubt a petition is going to help at all. TWC employees have (or at least should have) more important things to do than read a petition trying to save the LOT8s.

Where in the hell are you guys getting this info that the :08/:18/:38/:48 LFs were discontinued? There were LFs at 5:38, 5:48, and 6:08 this morning

EDIT: whoa... i see what you guys mean now  squeezeback @ 4:08 PM ET

Where've you been, Zach? :P

The LF's have basically been discontinued on normal programming excluding WUWA and YWT because of the current testing. just be lucky the :28 and :58 haven't been removed yet.

Now I just can't see that happening. That seems like such a waste with the IS2 and LOT8s promotion (done a couple of years ago). These half-hour LOT8s are kind of like the "live weather update" during long-form, with the "live weather" being specific to your area (unless you have the National Feed).

Looks like good news for parts of Texas and Iowa.

Certainly. Mild and wet (although that would make humidity high) are certainly too things good to see together. I have no idea how truthful this will be, though, especially if La Niņa is coming back.

The "tune to Weatherscan instead" argument doesn't even work, considering how few people have it.

Thank you so much for mentioning this, Eric. I am tired of hearing how people always say "If you don't have a LOT8s, then you can always tune to WeatherScan" because it is not available for all cable companies!

Question: Does YWT transition directly from live coverage to LOT8s?

Here's something I've thought of. The use of normal LOT8s during peak shows (such as WUWA and YWT) and the squeezeback during less peak shows such as DP kind of reminds me of what they did with the big (33%) LDL when they had it. The LOT8s is used normally during peak shows because viewership is high (this unfortunately does NOT explain why it is not used on WCL). On the contrary, the squeezeback is used on less peak shows. Just a theory...

Sorry Patrick, I seemed to overlook the link you provided above. That link shows pretty much of what I'm talking about. The actual mobile theme had the same layout pretty much, just an upgraded font and such.

I'm sorry for the double-post, but have you ever see such roller coaster temperatures in your life? This is the 5-day forecast for Norman, OK.

I finally found the settings for those tabs after some serious digging around in the administrative settings!  They were only set for administrators, moderators, and guests by default after the upgrade.  I have changed it so that everyone, including all members, can see the tabs.  Please let me know if you can see them now. :)

I can see them now!!! Thank you, Patrick!

Now what about the mobile version of the forums...

Guys, I know a lot of you absolutely love to follow the playlist, but I really don't think that's something most viewers care about. So I don't think TWC is thinking twice about removing normally scheduled LOT8s just because they would reduce the playlist to twice an hour.

I don't see the point of the L-Bar. Just to get a minute and a half of more coverage? Really??? TWC must be really desperate. It seems that this would be a permanent thing. Looks like we may need to take some action  :club:

Taking action is not going to help. ;) Most likely the use of the L-Bar is due to flooding coverage that will, obviously once again, boost their ratings. However, is there also a possibility that TWC thinks (or knows) viewers will tune-in if they extend their live coverage by scaling down on the LOT8s? I know to us its horrific, but we did say we would prefer more weather coverage, especially if it ads up over the hour.

Questions, Comments, Suggestions / Re: Should the TWCC presence stay?
« on: September 12, 2011, 11:38:38 PM »
To answer your above question, Matt, I personally don't see why the name "twc classics" in the logo and the "TWC Classics" subforum (regarding information on the TWCC site) should be removed if we will still have content on the classic TWC (that is, keeping "The Weather Channel: 1982-1999" subforums. IMO, if we keep one, we keep them both. If we get rid of one, we get rid of them both.

I am still following the weather in Dallas, and there are still record highs to be broken out even this late in the year.

Is there a reason for the different scheduling today? Lee has produced devasting effects, but the storm long gone now, there are no other landfalling systems right now, and I see no sign of severe weather in the country. Are they still pre-empting for the flooding in the Northeast? :dunno:

In Dallas:
100°F Partly Cloudy
**69 days of triple-digit heat for the year; TIES 1980 record

In Norman:
97°F Fair

The heat returns. :(
