Everything Else Classic TWC / Re: Dan Chandler outside of TWC
« on: October 12, 2011, 07:11:02 PM »
You won't beleve this, but I found Dan Chandler (with his face shown) doing an educational special on trains. He hosts this made-for-video presientation from 1994 called Railroads of North America.
Railroads of North America
I'm not sure whether or not if this was his only non-TWC voice-over spots or not. I think he should come back to TWC!

I know another voice-over he has done recently, though I'm not sure if I should disclose it.

No, you shouldn't. :nono:

Posts like this are starting to drive me crazy. If you're not sure if you can disclose it or not, don't mention it in the first place.

Thank you for posting the video! It's neat to see what the narrators "look like" and what jobs they do in addition to TWC. I wonder if Allen Jackson has done any segments like this.

Her biography is still up on weather.com

Aren't biographies on weather.com usually out-of-date sometimes? Anyway, what shift(s) did Sam even work? I thought she was just a fill-in and maybe even just a weather.com meteorologist. Unfortunately, I never cared much for her because she too had a lack of personality IMO. :hmm:

Had to make a new youtube page because my other one got up to 2 strikes  :club:

http://www.youtube.com/user/gt1racerlHDl

Follow it if you wish.

OK, so all this copyrighted stuff seems like a big issue lately. People's accounts are getting strikes, closed, etc... Are companies creating stricter rules, is YouTube really starting to crack down, or are people just oblivious to these copyright rules? :dunno: Not to be rude, but I don't understand what's so hard about it.

While I like Chris abd Crystal, I'd rather see Kelly and Paul.

Me too! Chris does a pretty good job, but from the times I have watched Crystal, I feel like she has no personality. As I mentioned earlier, I really miss the Paul/Alex pair for EE.

At the beginning of the 7 PM ET hour of Weather Center, there were at least three (maybe four) TWC logos on the bottom right. The satellite LDL logo, the IntelliStar-generated logo, and the transparent long-form logo. I thought I saw another logo disappear, but I'm not sure (I'll check my recording later).

Bet that looked quite messy.

It did.

If only all the logos would be in the same place on the screen. :whistling: You can't really tell that there's another blue logo under the IS-generated one.

OCM mix and match continues for Weather Center Live.

Monday 10/10 Was
7pm Paul Goodloe & Crystal Egger.
Adam Berg Weather News and Kim Cunningham TWC Social.
10pm Paul Goodloe & Crystal Egger.
Adam Berg Weather News and Kim Cunningham TWC Social.
1am Crystal Egger & Kim Cunningham.

It looks like Chris (and maybe Jim?) had the day, or could have the week, off. Who normally works with Paul during the 10 PM hour of WC since Nicole Mitchell's departure?

Hurricane Central / Re: Hurricane Jova
« on: October 11, 2011, 12:52:26 AM »
Thank you, Patrick. :) In regards to the track of Jova, what is it about this time of year that tracks hurricanes from west to east (affecting the US and Mexican west coasts) as opposed to from east to west (heading out toward Hawaii) in the eastern Pacific?

Going with what Eric said, you need to seek help immediately if you are suffering from extreme test anxiety. It's someone's job to be able to help you with that.

Also, welcome back Curt! It's nice to see some long-time inactive members, such as you and Chazz, drop by for a visit. :)

Yeah, why do they keep having problems with multiple logos cuing on top of each other? I guess they really want to let you know that you're watching TWC. :P But then again you might not even be able to tell what channel you're watching with all the jumbled mess.

Local Forecast / Re: General LF Discussion
« on: October 11, 2011, 12:39:29 AM »
Um, it was said previously that the squeezeback is having some changes made to it and will resume when they're worked out. Don't know what they are, don't know why, just that it will be back.

Oh that's right...duh. :wall: For some reason it just seems like such a long time ago when Tyler made this post below (in the General TWC Discussion thread). And I think I misread a post above to where I thought the L-Bar was brought back after the "changes" but then discontinued again.

The locals will be temporarily coming back during all live programming until they can fix a few things and send out an update. Then the squeezeback will return for :08/:18/:38/:48, and the locals will only play at :28/:58.

So, for those confused (including myself :P), the L-Bar is still temporarily disabled to "fix a few things." Like Vic, I was skeptical about the full screen locals as well.

So if the L-Bar forecast is gone, does this mean regular locals are returning. TWC needs to make up their :censored: minds on what they are going to do unless they are still "testing" whatever the heck they were testing.

I'll tell you what they were testing... they were testing a loaded baked potato hock-loogie Mariokart Wii cheddar cheese and sour cream beef dog corn  :censored:.
They were obviously testing a concept and apparently viewers werent pleased, so they do have reasons behind what they do

To be honest, I didn't think the average viewer cared that much about a full screen LOT8s. Then again, I remember Cantore saying that the LOT8s was the number one reason why people tune to The Weather Channel. So I'm confused!

Bottom line is, the regular locals are back and unless we get confirmation from one of our trusty sources, I guess we can assume this is a permanent change (for the better)...

On the IntelliStar, when Windy Conditions reported, the Windy icon doesn't display in any of the Current Conditions products, like Sunny and Windy, and Partly Cloudy and Windy, and Cloudy and Windy, but I hope in the future, Sunny and Windy icon, and Partly Cloudy and Windy, and Cloudy and Windy icon might be reported in any of the Current Conditions products, as well as the regular Windy icon when reported as "Fair and Windy", and "Mostly Cloudy and Windy".

The windy icon has never (and will likely) never be used on the CC product or The Week Ahead product because having an icon with the word "WINDY" right above a text forecast that says "windy" is redundant.

So if the L-Bar forecast is gone, does this mean regular locals are returning. TWC needs to make up their :censored: minds on what they are going to do unless they are still "testing" whatever the heck they were testing.

Hurricane Central / Hurricane Jova
« on: October 10, 2011, 03:09:23 PM »
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned sooner, but Major Hurricane Jova (in the eastern Pacific) is headed toward Mexico. I'm not sure if the current projected path may change to show Jova only brushing the west coast of Mexico or not. I wonder if any of the remnants may bring more wet weather to Texas.

So it looks like the "Live Weather Update" has been re-named to "Weather NOW," at least it was between WCL and ICHT last night.

Since I did not know about his ongoing struggle with cancer, I was shocked to see this on the news this evening. Steve Jobs will be very-much missed. He is responsible for amazing innovations in the tech world.

Goodbye, Mr. Jobs.
