Don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but to add to the fail of the test, Lady Gaga became even more famous, as DirecTV viewers got to hear her song "Paparazzi" before the actual alert came up.  Numerous videos are on YouTube. Lol.

Must be a slow weather day if the top stories on weather.com are about Lady Gaga and college campuses. :P

Outrageous. Why can't I get an earthquake for once?

Did you not feel the one that struck the east coast earlier this year? :dunno:  All I can say is that I hope the aftershocks stop soon.  This is getting to be a little bit much.  Since I have now officially "felt" an earthquake, I am good. :P
I did, but it was pathetic. I want an earthquake that is strong enough to keep me on my knees but not strong enough to cause any considerable damage. (I do want the curio cabinet in my dining room destroyed though - it is an absolutely eyesore).

That's some very specific criteria.  Anyway, today has been filled with too much action in Oklahoma.  Tornadoes and earthquakes on the same day.  Mother Nature must not like the state. :P

ANOTHER earthquake (this one highly likely an aftershock), circa 9 pm this evening. Someone has reported that this was a 4.7 magnitude.  This time I could actually feel something beneath me.  What is the deal, here?

Once upon a time, Stars didn't go out because of the time change.  I can't recall seeing the hour added or subtracted exactly at 2:00, but in the past the Stars just kept working as usual.
It was only the IS in which got affected by the time change.. the legacies were working because the XL cued fine.

Yeah, and the videos I were referring to were of 4000s.  Interesting how newer technology would have problems with the time change.

Errr it says my IP has been blocked? Has this been done to everyone or did I actually get banned? Haven't visited in months so I am curious

I know this happened to someone else; he said he had to download the WS4000 Emulator in a nearby coffee shop because his IP had been blocked.  But don't count on me, I'm not a member. :P

I'm probably posting in this thread too much, but is there any relation to damage done by an earthquake and its magnitude?  I was surprised to find out the magnitude was a 5.6, because I didn't notice any damage (or even shifting of objects in my dorm room).  Nothing fell off desks that I noticed, but with an earthquake this strong, you would think there would have been some noticeable "movement," right? :dunno:

What causes the IS system to go out during the time change? This can't happen with all STARS, because I know a couple of people who have posted the time change that happened on their IS on YouTube.

First Freeze Since Spring Recorded on November 4, 2011

At 6:12 AM on Friday, November 4, 2011, the temperature at Oklahoma City Will Rogers World Airport dropped to 28°F.  This is the first below freezing temperature that has been recorded since the pre-summer season.

5.6 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Oklahoma City

At around 10:53 pm on Saturday, November 5, 2011, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck about 45 miles east of Oklahoma City.  Earlier that morning, a 4.8 magnitude earthquake also struck.  Many aftershocks were felt from both incidents.  According to weather.com, "...the latest quake [aftershock] hit at 3:39 am Sunday, measuring 4.0 in magnitude and centered 36 miles east of Oklahoma City."  This is the largest earthquake on record for Oklahoma.

Severe Thunderstorms Possible on Monday

Those in Oklahoma City and Norman will need to keep their eyes out for a round of severe storms that is expected to hit tomorrow.  There is an 80% chance of thunderstorms, and severe threats include heavy rainfall, strong winds, and possibly some hail.  Tornadoes are not expected with this storm system.

Could these be precursors to an even larger quake? One has to think of the proximity of the New Madrid Fault..

Oh, I certainly hope not.  But who knows?  Like I said earlier, I agree with Patrick that the 4.8 magnitude earthquake Saturday morning was definetely a precursor to what happened last night.  But if Vic is correct and both of these are precursors to a future incident, I don't even want to think about that. :o  The one last night was strong enough and caused some damage (not where I am, but in other areas of Oklahoma).

As I said in the PBS, I was not inside any building when this happened last night, but was walking right next to my 12-story dorm building, literally a few feet away from going inside.  Suddenly, I heard a horrible "crackling" of bricks like the entire building was going to collapse.  When I saw everyone running outside, I knew something had to be wrong.  I can't really say I felt anything beneath my feet, though.

And to answer you Kevin, Patrick said that the 4.8 magnitude earthquake from 2:12 am Saturday morning was probably a "precursor" to the real one Saturday night.  I don't think aftershocks are supposed to be stronger than the real thing.

LOTS of earthquakes this year.  One occured in Oklahoma City early Saturday morning around 2:12 am.  Then another occured around 11 pm tonight.  I am not sure if it was another "full" one or just an aftershock.

Unfortunately, I was asleep and missed the one from earlier this morning.  However, although I was not inside, I was walking close to my dorm building and heard a horrible "crackling" of bricks, then saw everyone running outside.  I couldn't say I really felt anything (because I was walking at a rather quick pace), but I could hear the building shaking.  Scary stuff.
You're just having a large number of aftershocks.  The 2:12 AM earthquake is the main one that's causing everything here.  It has been a strange year indeed for earthquakes.

So I guess aftershocks can be stronger than the real thing? Because the aftershock tonight was reported to be a 5.6 magnitude. The one at 2:12 AM Saturday was 4.8.
