DISH Network and The Weather Channel Reach Agreement
Includes development of new full-time weather forecasting services

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. and ATLANTA, May 24, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ -- DISH Network L.L.C. and The Weather Channel today announced that they have reached a multi-year agreement for continued distribution of The Weather Channel on DISH Network's programming platform.

The deal provides for collaboration between both companies in developing state-of-the-art, full-time weather forecasting services designed specifically for satellite customers, including localized weather programming on DISH Network Ch. 213 (in addition to The Weather Channel's main feed on Ch. 214), interactive TV applications, as well as new Internet and mobile services.

Deployment of the new services will begin this summer.

The following statement is true.  The preceding statement was false.

Maybe TWC and DirecTV teamed up so you don't know that LOT8's aren't really happening on the 8's? (No clock) :fear:  :D

I think you're right on that, I'm pretty sure the LDL showed up on DirecTV before Dish.  The blue IS LDL on Dish is being used during Local on the 8's again, after disappearing for a few weeks.  Don't know about DirecTV.

Then again, I don't believe the national feed without an LDL ever had a clock in it before, anyway, so the way things are now really aren't any different than they've ever been where the clock is concerned.  The clcok was displayed nationally, as far as I know, to accomidate the Intellistar viewers for the brief period of time when the Intellistar didn't display a clock.

Yeah, this is completely true, however with Dish network and DirecTV, they both used a national LDL that had the time cycling through time zones, just like how the temporary national clock was.

OK, I should rephrase, I meant that Dish Network and Directv each used their own Intellistar units that were national(i.e. not localized), and for Dish Network, they are using it for Local on the 8's now (don't know about DirecTV).  I know the LDL wasn't part of the national feed.

Exactly.

The clock and LDL were not a part of the national feed, but the LDL now is a part of the national feed, but missing the clock.  I know the clock isn't really necessary, and most people probably don't care because they have plenty clocks as it is.  I don't know why I think it would be nice to have it on there, just seems like Jr./4000/XL/Sat viewers should get one if intellistar viewers get one.

It would be nice if the national LDL could get a clock somewhere.  I know it would look funny if they put it where it was, viewers with intellistars would see two clocks, but if they could shorten the tabs and put it there?  With the cities in alphabetical order, it's not too hard to know when the city you're looking for is coming.

Yes, because you only saw the output of the 4000, not the actual 4000 unit, as you imply.

Is it yesterday yet?

No, it is underhyped by those of us close to the 41st paralell.

If it is 4:23 on a Tuesday and I am having a soda at work, why did my dog eat the tree I just planted?

I've gotta see this one. :rofl2:
Not me. Fully devoted to not watching TWC during desperate attempts to raise money and get viewers :P

Not to be rude at all, and as much as I hate to say it, isn't attempts to raise money and get viewers what the weather channel has to do to keep running, along with all other networks?  It really stinks how it's all about money and viewership, and this has caused TWC and others to stray away from their original intent, or as I like to say it, they get MTV'd.  I guess I'm just saying I can't blame TWC, they have to do what they have to do and accomidate to everyone, not just the members of this board who don't want things to go in this direction.
